Removing True Truesight from Epic summons.

Post by Umpa »

This has pretty much hosed up my build, which was level 39 when this went in. Is there any retrofitting because of this? I built 0 spot because of the familiar trait of spot on the epic summons.

Is this request a to bad thing, or something that can be resolved somehow where I dont feel, I lost a primary abilty after I did 39 levels. This is not really an exploit, or an overbalancing thing the solar had, since he didn't really have harm that worked on everything for 300 points. The epic pet is pretty much useless to me at this point.

Perhaps there is something in this Aug 7th change we could get in trade?

Now you wont hear a bunch of people complaining because there are only 10 people that have solars, and more hipsters that would complain in return.

Hmmm, perhaps you could raise the SOLARs ability to dispell others, since they do not get harm(autohit unless immune), and they just lost spot.

Well that was helpful. :) They can't even see most mobs on shadow plane now.

the solars have higher ac/ab/dmg than the balor in melee. once the balor uses his harms, hes pretty useless.

an unfocused solar had 49 spot and it casts NS true seeing. one with actual epic conjure should still have decent spot.

It only casts TS if you have darkness nearby otherwise it ignores the selfbuff, and I'm not sure if thats the spot on it, I'll check when I get a chance. It doesn't cast UV as far as I can tell either.

The last Dragon Knight I saw had around 77 spot, I'm not sure the circumstances which gave it that amount, but that is a rather decent amount.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, keep testing and providing more feedback and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

All of the epic knight summons lost their TS and were given NS4 TS instead. They did get a good bump on their spot also the AI is sometimes a little odd, it can cheat sometimes it may have happened to you walking through somewhere suddenly monsters start casting TS out of no where (I do laugh when I see people blaming us on the DM channel) so your summon "should" cast it when anything invis/stealthed is around also anyone that has an epic summon would also have the TS spell and depending on your class other things to boost its spot.

Do they cast UV also? They seem to shut down when darkness is on them, unless you are very close to it.

Aye, I think Deathdealer said it right... every class that can eventually cast Dragon Knight can cast TS and Ultravision before they get any epic spells. Whenever I plan on going the epic-summons road, I figure buffing is just part of the equation, so adding TS/Ultra into the mix was only one more round at the most once you've got Autoquick.

I did a little testing on this. I usualy cast TS on myself and solar during my standard buff. i skipped it a few times just to see how it would react if i didnt cast it.

Every time a hipsing creature or Pc came into view it automaticly cast TS on it self. every time. It wont cast UV but thats ok i cast that aswell during buffing. it seemed to do this when invisible people came by aswell.

So i think the new setup is working perfectly. if they need it they cast it. however i do recommend giving them both TS and UV before hand so they dont have to waste time casting it on themselves.

On a side note..... why doesnt the light of an assmir cancel out the darkness of a drow? as far as i can see it completely blinds aasmir UV or not, and when you active your token it doesnt do anything to cancel this effect. Is there a way to script it to cancel darkness? That way if an assmir and a drow get to fighting they cancel each others effects out.

Yeah I've wondered about that. You see, that Aasimar and Drow/Tiefling effect only affects the other. So if it cancels each other out, there is absolutely no point in having it. Right now it needs a fix yes.

Perhaps have a roll, and whoever rolls better their Aura overpowers the other. This can be mainly determined by level. So the roll would be 1d20 + 1/2 Level = Total. Can this be scripted?

Solar still has trouble spotting things even with truesight and clairvoyance cast on it. My solar has twice the spot and listen of my wiz and can't see the cutthroats and thugs on rock peak when my wiz can. It stands there and waits until it is attacked before doing anything. And yes, I remembered to tell it to attack nearest, it was not in follow mode.

Keen sense would make sense since these are powerful Planar beings we're talking about. Now wether it would make a difference is a different story.
