Fire and Regeneration

Post by Kirg »

Shouldn't a troll stop regenerating if hit by fire damage?
Or shouldn't it take more damage from it than usual?

I could be wrong here, but I was under the impression in DnD any addition only the damage done by the fire/acid would not regenerate. So if you hit them for 20 physical and 4 fire, then that 4 should not be regeneratable. I'm not sure if this is in the game engine though.

That would be insanely hard to script, with regenerating and non-regenerating at the same time. However, it wouldn't be too hard to give them Fire Vulnerability.

Yeah, and I think that charcters benefit more from regen than monsters. We wouldn't want fire/acid damage done to us to be unregenerable (is that a word?).

Perhaps follow it up with you must torch this corpse with a torch. Or it comes back alive.

Thats a great idea. Put its corpse decay to like 600, really slow like the old Gnolls in 3.5 (remember how the caster gnolls kept rezz'ing them? ). Would it be possible that they aren't affected by the -11 = dead script. Like, at -35 hp they regenerate to -29, then -23, -17, -11, -5, and then hes alive at 1 hp again.

I think I remembers some trolls in bg2 that had to be tourched for em to die, or they would just come back to life.

Yep, pretty much all trolls in BG2 had to get hit with fire/acid once they fell down.

I remember those. It'd be a nice touch.
