Tiefling

Post by randdo »

Tell me something please.... If Tiefling are supose to be for the most part, "indistinguishable from humans", who came up with the bright idea of giving them ALL tails which makes ALL new Tiefling now very easy to identify and very distinguishable from humans?
FROM WIKI: Twisted, devious and untrustworthy, Tieflings more often than not follow their inherent traits and heed the call to evil. A few defy their nature, but still must fight against popular opinion (if their ancestry is known) or the feeling of otherworldly "wrongness" that seems to follow them wherever they go. Beyond this aura that many find disturbing, many Tieflings are indistinguishable from humans.
I started a Tiefling because of the stats for a particular build I'm testing out. I'm also trying to learn how to play a character with ECL3 right from scratch without using "darkness" because we already know that the 20% concealment darkness is useless/pointless. Hopefully I'll learn how to play my 2 Drow that are over lvl 20 from this experience as well. If not I'll scrap them for other races.

Tails coming out of the butt are not very flatteringt... BTW tails are given right at creation not level 10. AND if you could figure out how to have the tail handle a sheild or a weapon so that a Tiefling could triple yeild, that would be smokin...

If others agree who play Tieflings could you remove the tails please.

Thanks........ :)

ROFL :P

I think that people should find out more about what they are talking about before comments are thrown around :)

P.S (everyone has made the mistake though)

I did a little research. Pictures were the worst. They varried from a little dwarf or gnome type to that of a twisted demonic elf like in appreance. As far as the written description goes.. Well here's a couple that I found.
Physical Description: Tieflings look like normal humans, with only a few physical traits to show their Lower Planar heritage. It is said that all tieflings come from the inbreeding of humans and fiends, with the fiendish traits being diluted over time. Some graybeards even suggest that after a great number of generations fiendish traits may become so diluted that tieflings are indistinguishable from normal humans. The most noticeable traits include: goat legs, cloven hooves, horns, tails, fur, and scales. Note that no tiefling possesses all of these traits, and some possess none of them. The less noticeable traits include pointed teeth, unnatural eye or hair colours, and pointed nails.
and
Physical Description:Tieflings are a bit shorter than humans and of a more slender build. Most have some kind of physical abnormality (although hardly ever more than one) that shows their heritage. Common abnormalities include: small horns, fangs, cat-like or reddish eyes or a tail. Some tieflings also have a biforkated tongue.
Tiefling skin comes in many varieties, some may have scales or fur, while others may have grey or black skin. Most have brown or reddish hair, although black is also not uncommon. Tieflings generally wear clothes with a dark hue, and they prefer weapons that favour agility and finesse rather than brute strength.
Note: Tiefling player characters may not have wings, large horns, scales, glowing eyes or other features apart from the ones just mentioned.
Tieflings are adept at seeing and moving in the dark, resistant to certain elements, and immune to some spells that can paralyze other humanoids.
One funny thing I did find in common on a few sights was that Tiefling's are supose to have ECL1. "hint hint"

Did the descriptions match that of NS4 (stats, abilities etc)?

If not then the ECL of the one you read is irrelevant :)
