Summon power
Summon power
I know it says in the docs that the summons are in but need balancing... well, the Penguin (level 1 true neutral druid summon) is overpowered.
It's better in combat than my druid will be until at least level 4. All I have to do is summon in the little guided missile bird and watch the goblins die.

There's seriously a penguin spell? I gotta try that.

Well it varies. At lower levels some of the neutral summons are superior to the good/evil summons, for example the penguin is better than the chickens, the gynosphinx is a trillion times better than the stupid bison.
But at higher level that shifts. The best neutral planar summons are slaad, and they do not compare to the power of a solar or even a balor.

Oh yeah, the penguin is hilarious. However, I wouldn't say hes overpowered. You must be neutral, however, but thats not much of a price to pay (stupid paladins won't accept penguins in their "classy" society). I summoned one with one of those golden rods at level 32 with a rogue (Summon Creature I Rods) and the penguin had like 50 hp and crap, lol. He was hilarious, followed me around. It was really sad when those Dervishes ruthlessly shot arrows into him again...and again...and again. He actually survived the first two, the little penguin must of had Boromir's spirit
.

Ive been brought back from negative hp by the penguin.
But on topic, I don't think the summons are overpowered. The druid is a caster. Your summon is SUPPOSED to be a better fighter than you. After all, the penguin cant cast call lightning.(Though it would be hilarious if he could!)
Your summons at low lvls dont last very long. So its not so bad if theyre a little better than average.
