Would it be possible to get the ID spell increased in duration to make it a little easier to use with the Diary Book ID option?
4 or 5 rounds instead of 2?
I'm pretty sure it won't throw off the balance of the server, would just help reduce tedium.
I know there is Legend Lore, but that doesn't help out in the early levels.

I haven't found the duration on ID to be too short so far with the diary. In fact, I've found that the diary tends to speed things up quite a bit. The only place I could see this being a big concern is with a large low level party that's loaded down with unided loot, but I don't see it being a real big deal.

I think I made Legend Lore equivalent to Identify some long time back, weird that the level 1 spell is so much better out of the box.
Question: is the bard bonus to lore included? Don't remember if it's a simple addition to skill rank (which the book stuff uses) or if it's buried somewhere in the engine with lore checks and will have to be duplicated.

The difference between legend lore and identify is the length of time it lasts.
id gives bigger bonus to lore skill but its only meant to be used on a single item hence the 9 second duration.
Legend lore is longer so you can use it on mulitple items

Anytime the diary is used it saves your character and location, at least that's what I intended it to do (exception is when you target it on a mob drop to id what's in there--new characters get the cooler diary).
Looked at what passes for a lore spell--it's +10 with some other stuff that doesn't work (larger bonus for higher char level). Legend lore passes through the same script, so it's doing the same thing.
So what's a good setup?
Lore:
- caster gets lore bonus of say 10 plus some caster level related bonus.
- lasts 30 secs? (We don't require the material component, pearl of 100 gold value).
Legend lore:
- as above but start at 15 or 20? You're a bard so already have a healthy bonus anyway...

With 30 Lore skill you can pretty much ID 90% of stuff on the server.
I've found level 9 scrolls to require 12 or 13 lore.
By 12 or 13 lore all current potions are id'able.

Legend Lored: 10 + 1/2 caster level || Duration: 1round/casterlvl
