Ideas to spice up the relic hunt
Ideas to spice up the relic hunt
Just a thought so laugh if you like, but what if the # of relics decreased to one. One relic with a 50% xp bonus, and the cradels hold time decresed to 0. Wouldnt it make it alot more intresting to know that one person could run in grab the relic and be gone before anyone knew about it. And maybe get rid of the server warning that you are underattack. This would make relic raiding availble to all level toons, since you wouldnt know yours was gone until you noticed you no longer had the bonus, and by then its too late. It would give even the lower populated factions a chance at the bonus and move the attackers from town to town chasing it. What if even you didnt know who had the relic. You would actualy have to explore the server going into every town to see if their cradle was empty or full. Just some thoughts to expand the relic system to encompass even the weaker pvp factions.

Actually it would make it a lot more annoying. I know you're just brainstorming, but I'm against this idea 100%. Each relic is actually sorta spiritual to that faction. TC has their holy tree stick, MA their magicky relic, etc. Besides, I know you'd THINK this would make it easier for less populated factions but it really wouldn't. It actually would make it easier for popular factions, because if a character from MA for example stole the relic than a band of AO people could just go over to Garagoth and take it with ease.

If a relic is away from home for more than 36 hours, and it stays in one spot for more than 6 hours, then it randomly relocates or returns home.... makes sense to me. This is just a variation on a couple of the previous posts... prevents hoarding and makes it more likely that I'll actually see a relic bonus without being SL.

I dunno, how about some of you guys out there actually try building up your strength to fight for the relics? I mean, really no one outside LA seems even willing to take on SL these days. Ok, I know some guilds and faction are small and don't have the manpower, but surely some of you guys must be getting sick of watching SL and LA trading the relics back and forth. I'm certainly not going to give the relics away.

MA is on there way dont worry...
and the reason AO doesnt do it is due to the fact that everytime they do, DM's come in to remove them, or in the abscence of a DM, players start spawnkilling and disarming characters on respawn(which i believe is an exploit). kind of puts a damper on the whole situation.

I remember one time I was doing a relic raid on SL with one of my AO characters, I grabbed a relic and started running, then some DM smacked me with darkness. Was blinded for a good half hour atleast. (was probably more)
Resting and greater restore wouldn't remove it, didn't have any UV but it would have been useful.

It doesn't take much (or even a DM) to put you in the dark
. However, 30 minutes is a bit much. It might have been one of the darkness bugs that we drow have adjusted to.
Relocating the relics is not going to change very much as there is a strong group of drow that live outside the US. They collect those relics very early in the morning for you West Coast players.

I seem to recall an incident where a DM was backing up an AO raid by spawning Disciples and dragons against a small group of SL defenders. So DM interference has occurred on several sides, although I believe an end was called to this.lord_modred wrote: and the reason AO doesnt do it is due to the fact that everytime they do, DM's come in to remove them, or in the abscence of a DM, players start spawnkilling and disarming characters on respawn(which i believe is an exploit). kind of puts a damper on the whole situation.
