1,5,9,13,16?,20?
All the original nwn weapons are available from merchants in level 1, 5, 9, and 13 versions.
For the sake of "balance" shouldn't level 16 and 20 versions of all the weapons be out there somewhere?
In this way a player could confidantly focus on any weapon.

What are we communists? EVERYTHING MUST BE THE SAME, WE ARE ALL EQUAL AND NO ONE IS NO GREATER OR NO LESS! ANYONE WHO IS DIFFERENT IN MORE THAN TWO WAYS WILL BE SHOT DOWN! Lol, sorry. But its kinda sounding a little too samey here. Be cool for the crappy based items (clubs, dire mace, light flails, etc.) to have the BEST type out there thats awesome to get some players encouraged to use those. Because, well, whens the last time you've seen someone use a light flail?

No one uses light flail because it's base properties are mediocre...
Why use a light flail when at same time you could use warhammer and get an extra X on your crits?
Personally I think the current system works very well. The general equality between items encourages variation.
However lesser base items could have that little bit extra to make them used more. The zon club is a good example.

I am very well aware of that Jester, thats why I thought it would be interesting to take items with a crap base item and make one really good like the Zon club to see if players would sacrifice the crits for.JesterOI wrote:No one uses light flail because it's base properties are mediocre...

I like the variation, even if it causes some problems for newbs to know what weapon to focus in. Other places I've played seemed to have a few weapons that were simply the best and accordingly every toon there was either carrying one or farming for it. I actually carry a couple weapons because there are instances where it's just situationally more useful than my main weapon. That's a good thing!
As for some weapons with crummy base stats getting a boost, that just adds to the fun.

I generally avoid slash weapons... There seems to be a lot of slash resist out there.
I just started a fighter for armorcrafting and decided to go with a long sword to try it out since i'm onyl levelling to 19. Damn there is a lot of slash resist out there.
No wonder I stick with rapier/warhammer or shortsword/mace for little ppl.

Anyway, yeah, it's not exactly a secret that everything around here has mad slashing resist. I think it's good that more bludgeoning/piercing resist armors have been added recently to balance things out a bit, but it's know that if you're playing a tank type, you should carry different types of weapons.
