Ferries (not about TS)
Ferries (not about TS)
Has there been any thought about re-vamping the ferry system. After all it seems like you should be able to get to Black Hills or Windale from the Grey Shores without having to go through Sunken City. Perhaps even be able to take the ferry from Falme to either Sleeth or NS. It would certainly help those stranded out in Garagoth if they had another route out of the area or make some of the more lengthy treks a little less time consuming or costly. I also don't agree with the ferryman from Sunken City being inside Sunken. I mean the ferry drops you off up top and the boat is still pictured there so why can't you find a ferryman there? If you find out you can't get around the Merfolk up top there is only one way home. (respawning) How do you take a ferry out of a Sunken City anyways? Wouldn't it have to be a submersible? This goes along with not having a shop in Frost Dale. If you find out you can't handle things outside of FD there is no way to make money and you might find it almost impossible to leave. Just some thoughts.

BTW, Why is the ferry from Windale the only one that doesn't have a sign as the transitional link?

this is what i had in mind for the ferries...
the neutral ferry for instant outer city raids and defence (RPit to the traderoute to frostdale's trade shows from the outer cities (we need shops in FD) .
the ferry to the monks from frostdale, because who said that monks dont like the trade? they are artisans are they not?
and keep the falme one to allow lower levels a run to avendell
then from avendell, or the monastery, people can do a fairly quick run to the black hills and windale to join the sunken ferry... this ferry can me used to make other coordinated attacks on cities using the front door instead of the Dock where people can be waiting...
i was thinking also adding a ferry guy be haddon mirk, to involve that area more and make it known, and also as a back way to SL and the south gates of Neversummer city...
please comment...
edit: BAH!!! heres the Picture LOL

The monastery doesn't have a dock, IIRC. And who said monks care about trade? There's out in the middle of nowhere so they can meditade and stuff without people bothering them. Still, allowing the docks in Daeron and Garagoth to be used for FD as well is a pretty good idea, then all the factions can hit Sleeth pretty easily.

what i was really thinking on asdding a dock to the monastery, or actually arround that area, is to add another connection between the FD and Sunken ferries... this way it's not just based on falme, and it would help new theese rarely traveled areas to be traveled more often... people would pop up arround the monastery and find a bunch of undead... it will help spread the server arround and ease off the MtnElagneros wrote:The monastery doesn't have a dock, IIRC. Like I said they're monks. Don't matter how close they are to the water, they probably want their solitude. 'Course a monastery near the coast isn't necessarily a good idea, as some medieval monks learned the hard way in the British Isles....Kromix wrote:what i was really thinking on asdding a dock to the monastery, or actually arround that area, is to add another connection between the FD and Sunken ferries...Elagneros wrote:The monastery doesn't have a dock, IIRC. Then they should do more exploring. The Border Patrol job for NC was designed in part to get players to learn the lay of the land up there, some jobs for the others factions could also help newbies learn their way around their factions as well.this way it's not just based on falme, and it would help new theese rarely traveled areas to be traveled more often... people would pop up arround the monastery and find a bunch of undead...
I think I will refrain from comment on this.it will help spread the server arround and ease off the Mtn

and what about the new people staring in NS city that by lvl 25 dnt have a clue wher FD/mirk/ash mountains/vampires/etc are???Then they should do more exploring. I level on the mountain because it is more convenient, not because thats the only area I know. I've been to the mirk, vampires (thats for NC people man), Ash mountains (thats goblins and thats closer to MA really because NS people must run past Ancient Dire Bears for goblins...), and Frostdale we've all been to. Mountains are basically the best because it goes in order. Levels 8-12 get ogres, groups of 13-16 can get the tree smashers, and people who wanna stay there and solo instead of going in a group to Frostdale could go into the caves for some xp from Blood Drinkers. Funny thing, In NS 3.5 I gained my pre-epic levels on the mountain when most people gained them at the dwarves.
