so i had this thought
so i had this thought that avendell was supposed to be a big city of trade. on thing is that when you actually look at it, its kinda small for a city. its more like an outpost. well heres my thought. lets make avendell a big city, lets extend it over the server line and add in 1 more section before the dark forest. you can put shops and an inn to bind inside the city on the opposite side of the server transition. that would get rid of the pk before anyone can get ready, would put a bind point on the near side of giant mountain that is neutral to everyone, and it would also make avendell seem like a bigger city. making 1 more zone to a mod takes about 30 mins and you can setup the shops exactly as they are on the opposite server so that nothing is really that different except the part of town that you are in. this fix isn't a huge job and it solves quite a few problems with binding and blind pk'ing on server entrance.
when death comes for you and you are not afraid, if he asks why tell him you met me
If this happens, it would awesome if (maybe, possibly, if it's not too much work) it could include the shopspace that I was talking about with Eva (although it doesn't seem like she's that into NS4 right now). Who knows, maybe it could become an actual city of TRADE for players. Not sure what this would entail, but a couple places where people could exchange stuff they don't need for stuff they do. For example, note my recent thread on traps. If I had a coffer, I'd trade it for a (lifetime's supply ?
) of trap components.

This was something that occured to me as well. Why is Avendell this little podunk town when it's supposed to be a huge trade center and a sort of neutral ground for that factions? Having it divided between the severs with 2 separate shards for each server is a good fix for the whole problem with having to spawn when you're bound to the other server. And there wouldn't be a need to put a shard in the goblin hut or whereever (which is something that I'd rather see as only a temporary fix to begin with).
One thing that could be done with this trade city is perhaps put in a pawn shop. This would be like a standard NWN merchant. The merchant would have no items by default, everything in stock would be whatever players sell to the shop. The merchant could buy items for something like 30 or 40% of their value, so it would be slightly less profitable for players to sell there, and then mark up the sale prices to like 300 or 400%. The merchant can be set to not id items, so players wuldn't be able to just run in there and id expensive stuff on the cheap. Maybe a gold limit for the merchant could be set if the devs don't want too many good items available at once. It would serve as a place where we could sell those unique item drops for other players to buy, although the inventory would be wiped on a reset. I'm not overly fond of the system we have where a sold item is essentially lost forever, because even if I can't use it, someone else might be able to use it (and some of those items are pretty sweet). Ok, this idea does seem a bit far fetched but who knows?
Another thing we could have is faction embassies or something if Avendell is supposed to be neutral ground. Perhaps faction related quests could start here, something more involved than the rather basic faction quests that LA or AO already offer.
