Please make all vendors invincible and unable to be killed
Please make all vendors invincible and unable to be killed
Sounds obvious and with the amount of rampant and bored high level characters it has become irritating to enter a city and notice everything has been wiped out.
For low levels who cannot trade in Avendell the starting cities are all they have and to have to wait or log off and come back is downright selfish and I believe the sole reason for the rapid decline in the number of players in NS4.
It is now and possibly irrecovably damaged.
I'd like to thank all the Slaves, Okies and all those bored high level chars for turning this world into a ghostly landscape where you can go hours without running into another player (and no they're not all invisible).
So a gentle reminder to the Devs and DM's - as hard as the Devs may be working on NS4 the role of DM's is to police and if they're too busy then as above the Devs will need to address the issue of ensuring that vendors and plot NPCs cannot be killed by players as it disrupts playing and enjoyment.
For what its worth this is my suggestion.
Take care NS4

Quick check on the servers: over 40 players combined...not quite as desolate as you described. In fact, the only time I would say you are correct is when I stay up till 3:00am or so...else, there has been no large change in numbers.
I'd also like to know where you level...I can't go for more than 15 minutes without a lowbie messing up the goblin spawns...
PLOT NPC's: fix that guy in the NS barracks so the noobs will stop complaining. Believe it or not, there are loads of guards waiting to die in those barracks, which translates to possible XP. Yet, upon entering, the plot specific guy charges at you. This is a problem.

yeah pepin in the barracks needs some more thought on placement either of him or the 15 guys in the barracks. as far as shopkeepers go, i have seen the killed and when everyone leaves the shop he respawns. so i haven't ever noticed any problems with that, just that u have to wait for daylight to sell.

when death comes for you and you are not afraid, if he asks why tell him you met me

I've been booted several times recently with a statement saying there are too many players on and some slots are reserved for dms, try in a few minutes...so it's pretty busy. Seems to happen with about 40 people on a server, and that seems to happen friday and saturday nights (my saturday and sunday mornings, so I'm not as lame as all you friday nighters
).

of those we can hardly keep track.

Truth is, I don't look at updates anymore after seeing the same info 5 times in a row.

Not to change the subject...
Speaking of the latest update, is there any kind of ETA? Is there a projected schedule of updates posted anywhere? That would be really cool (for players, anyway... devs might not like a posted timetable to try to adhere to).
I realize that this is a non-profit enterprise done in the devs' spare time, so please don't think I'm bitchin'. I know personally that seeing a schedule would help dispel the illusion (as per the 3rd lvl wiz spell) that this Beta is static and not progressing.

enemy epic level players guarding their city...nargileh wrote:Ok... What prevents a group of epics to come gangbang him in that case?lord_modred wrote: and to adress nargileth: thats why bosses shouldnt be soloable even by epic level punks
and anyways, what makes you think a party of epics are gonna want to come into the city just to beat on a ridiculously powerful vendor?
