pantheon
i think that NS should, instead of using dieties from forgotten realms and grey hawk, create and use it's own pantheon. this would be much easier to implement and mold to the unfolding story of aetheria.
"O cruel fate, floating through the void of space like gravity's plaything. O to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones, it bones for thee."

I agree big time. We should have gods that also actually give gifts to those who do deeds that work with the gods beliefs. It would be awesome if the gods would also take place in war efforts. We have about 40-50 people on one server at peak times.....so.....my theory is this
We could get a large playing field, like Melencia forest or something, and have the gods, and 10 selected players from each faction on the server, and WHAM go at each other. The winning faction gets items, decreased sales prices, and so forth. AWESOME!

I've tried fire, i've tried faith, and i've tried force, all I have left is hope.

The clash of steel, the sparks of magick, the screams of lives cut short...*breathes in deeply* AH...this is the aroma of the gods. I know I'd be a spectator for a tournament!
Also, perhaps you could arrange it so that the current faction that gods 'favor' operates with the same buying rules as Avendell? Or perhaps the forging items they possess are able to craft any level craft, so long as they maintain dominance. Now THAT would motivate people to fight their hardest.

I think it would be nice as well.
The problem is alot of NWN players are just playing a game in their minds. I'd say 50% or more of them have not played PnP DnD at all. I am a seasoned DnDer but I also lack alot of knowledge in the forgotten realms pantheon. I think many players are with me when someone says the name of a God and we say WHO?
Creating a new pantheon for a new world with clear god/goddess definitions would be nice. This way you can also tailor these deities to specific factions/cross factions/intra-factions to create more of a specific link and feel to a god, instead of bringing up a name and then trying to stretch their definitions and blanket them over several factions.
Say each faction has 2-3 Specific Faction-Only Deities, while there would be 3-5 deities shared between allies, 5-10 shared between all factions. Since some factions restrict alignment already, just craft these to the factions themselves, and don't bother adding useless deities, such as a good aligned god within Shadow Legion. Say ancient ones, who lets all alignments join, can have 1 neutral, 1 evil, and 1 good faction-specific deity. Choosing these specific deities will help you gain more loyalty with your faction, and possibly open up religious-based quests, such as crusades and missions.

I'd be happy with a smaller set of deities. I think part of the "uhh.. which god are you now..?" comes from a lack of knowledge, which can't really be gained from in-game experiences because there's too many to meet or remember. So having maybe 2 at max on the list of gods for a faction would work, with various demi-gods added temporarily when needed, like angels with a specific purpose. There's no need to have a god to protect forests solely when a god of life and nature could send out their wifty servants to do the same job. And this could be fun, because having a dm play a suped up lvl40 char that could be killed would be a nice challenge, and a realistic one. I mean, divine intervention is nice, better than nothing, but it's annoying if i want to attack helm and can't b/c he's too heinous. This would also let us have some form of reputation, as slaying a solar/demonic type creature would be a pretty respectable feat.
