I'm disappointed nobody else has found the use for broken books yet.

Re: Book Exchanger
I like some use for broken books for sure.
They will be a pain to carry and mule so a reward would be nice.
9 broken books seem too easy to me though.
Maybe 20 for a +2 book and 300 for a +4
Anyway, any use for em would be nice

Re: Book Exchanger
How about a (3 or 4) +2 of same type for a +4 of that type...with additional
travel someplace Epic/hard to get too, to see the Book Keeper/ Librarian NPC to exchange it.
takes some of the meta gaming aspect out having to carry the books there... maybe

Hummmm.... Fury (and friends) collected over 50 in a day and a half....9 broken books seem too easy to me though.

I would say 1000 broken books for a +2 book and quadruple that for a +4...
unless you just want to give books away for little work...

I agree with you here North... seems like they should be worth somethingAnyway, any use for em would be nice

I trade my broken books for doorknobs or boot heels.

broken books are already worth something
80 gold
and there is a place all set up already for exchanging them.

Re: Book Exchanger
An idea I offered for broken books was as follows:
A NPC in Ave that is able to take multiple broken books, and able to peice them together to make a somewhat useful tome. NPC would require 100 broken books, 1,000,000 gp for the effort, and 100,000 xp to turn the broken into a useful tome. After successful completion (and there would be a roll to determine if successful or not (gold and xp spent even if fail)) then a random tome would be award that would increase a skill by +5. To use a skill tome player would need to be at their rift shard (where bound) and use would cost 200,000 gp and 100,000 xp (to prevent using 1 toon to create tomes for use on others).
Only one tome could be use for each skill.

100.000 xp to maybe a random skill? There sure is alot of unused skills... I'd love to stak up some armor crafting books for 100k xp a pice :p

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

Re: Book Exchanger
That's a high price, for sure, but if you were able to purchase character boosts (same for ability books), the price should be VERY high. 9 broken books for 1 tome is too low (no offense).
I like the idea of skill tomes, could that be a random drop item?

Disc book! Hide book! Spot book! I see no possibility for this to cause problems.
Of course, hide/spot books would counter each other out completely, same with MS/listen, but only if both players farm up insanely much to get one of these coveted books, especially given how many dud +5 tumble, bluff, persuade, etc you would get first (as pointed out by others). It doesn't even need to be a disabled skill (like craft X, persuade, appraise, ride, bluff, etc) to be useless. A bunch of other skills are nearly useless (tumble, taunt for most people, intimidate, pick pocket, lore, animal empathy, etc).

+5 to tumble is +1 ac, and it's easy to find use for a build with intimidate or taunt to.... ae or lore on the other handDaral0085 wrote:Disc book! Hide book! Spot book! I see no possibility for this to cause problems.
