The wandering epic defenders...

With what DM Kim said recently about epic defenders spawning outside the cradle in response to possible exploits. I had a thought...how about a party of epic defenders, one from each faction, that randomly appear in the planes. They can appear to either kill PC's, kill all opponents or both. Add a little spice in what could otherwise be just another day at the park. They could also spawn in FD and in upper Zons.

I like it, would bring more sense of the war that is supposed to be going on.

Just a consideration i would like to throw in... wouldn't 7 groups of epic defenders who actually wandered killing require a considerable amount of server resources? It would be an extra 7 big battles happening 24/7.

Maybe the defenders can be assigned to a zone and they spawn when that zone is loaded by a PC? The zone assignments can then mimic 'wandering' through an ez formula that makes them move to of of the surrounding areas. This won't allow you stumble upon an entire cleared zone with remains strewn about and there would also have to be a placement formula created to place them on the map when the zone is loaded.

I was thinking of one party consisting of 7 epic defenders. They would be triggered by the appearance of PC's. Then they would either kill the other spawns, the PC's or both. Although the true wandering part does make for a nice twist. Be even better if they had good insults for players who come in right after the epics kill a boss. :twisted:

I think this is an excellent idea.

I think it could be implemented by placing the epic defenders as patrolling in a random planar area from your factions nexus. They would only spawn when you control your own relic, and would raise allies and kill hostiles (otherwise neutral to the planar natives). They would need to be low in number, maybe 2-3, and carry a loot script.

perhaps just have it like the planner store on some screens epic defenders of a faction sporn to kill all but players from there faction, i guess for RP it would be how they get experience, and yeah a loot drop would be cool also

would be interesting fighting epic defenders outside of pvp see what there relay maid off!

I like the idea of them consisting of 1 epic defender from each faction and being their own faction (functionally), neutral to all normal faction citizens and guards, yet hostile to all PC toons and other random/placed inhabitants.

Sharpshooters aren't so bad once you put some pierce armor on, but getting hit by multiple other defenders with bludge and slash would be difficult!
