Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
I heard from a player that extend spell extends the duration of Divne Wrath. I'd like to get confirmation, as I'm thinking about using a book on a build - can a dev or DM comment?
Thanks!

Yes it does double, my bad for never posting it
It was changed a long time ago, to be honest I don't know the reason I did it I cant find the thread in our development section where we discussed it, I will leave to Linux on whether it should remain as is.

Yes, that's what I was asking about - Divine Wrath, the feat that 5th level CoT's get.
I vote to keep the extend effect. only really makes it last about like lasting inspiration (and only once per day, and non-party!), and provides a 'pure' CoT a little of the love that's been given to pure fighters, palis, and barbs. Makes for a heck of a melee machine for a limited time.

Re: Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
But what I don't get is, Extend Spell works on spell slots... so you extend a spell by casting it at one spell level higher....Divine Wrath isn't even a spell...
I don't really have a problem with a longer duration if a CoT invests levels...
Surprised NC hasn't made many CoT... its a really powerful prestige class. A 30 CoT combined with Paladin levels means you rarely will ever fail any save... can get 60+ on all saves.

Re: Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
Saves are great against caster classes, but don't do much to save you from someone shankin ya tween the ribs. The damage reduction is awesome too, but its a one shot deal. CoT's make for good defender tanks with safe areas to rest readily accessible. However, in any kind of extensive engagement, for instance raiding, you're dead meat less you have lots of friends that can secure the cradle for you to allow you to rest. Suppose you do use it in a raid and secure a relic, unless you go dex and take blinding speed you're not gonna outrun anyone and even then, blinding speed only lasts so long.
They just need too much support to compete with any of the melee builds out there. You could take bard levels and UMD to make it a more solo-able build, but then you can't take the pally bonuses, and even so, your buffs are dispel bait. It would take some creative thinking to make a good CoT that could be more effective.
I've got some ideas for a 30CoT i've been kicking around but I still have other builds that I think would be more effective that I want to try first. If anything they'll have easier playability and will give me more return on the time that I invest in leveling them to 40.
Then again, I'm not real sure how one would work out, so we'll let frog be the guinea pig and wait for his "lessons learned" after he's done
. Everything I've deduced so far about the build is pure speculation based on how it looks on paper. You never truly know till you get one built and mix it up a bit

I've got a decent CoT. Works really well as a hard-hitting shock trooper in PvM. We'll see how it plays out when I send it against players.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.
Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

I never learn anything, that's why I'm NC - I'm pretty, not smartcRaZy8or5e wrote: we'll let frog be the guinea pig and wait for his "lessons learned" after he's done.
I like CoT to complement other classes, use it a fair bit. It gets used rarely as a main class because of all the things crazy said, plus no uberage with only a few levels like SD, RDD, or (*spits on ground*) PM, only fairly mild cheese (velveeta, really, or low-fat moz). I've done a 20/20 pal/CoT once (or something like that), and it was pretty much like Sparky said - never tried it in PvP.
Can NC have rogues?

Re: Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
im with frog here CoT is more of a booster class than a primary its basically a paladin without the spells and that loss of spells means alot shure you have divine wrath ... one time for a short period. i suppose you could max the cha and make it last up to 50 rounds but then your ab would stink as would the rest of your stats. PRCs on the whole are support for base classes and arent realy ment to be anything more than that. a fiew are more suited for lots of levels WM AA, BG and PM too but only because of our unique summons and tweaks most Prcs are ment for 10 levels ( 5 if its a HS)
that being said i use the CoT as it was intended i have a coupple CoT builds cleric Cot, bard cleric CoT ( this ones a doozy if you do it right ) and plan on a fiew others .. Monk cleric Cot jumps to mind
dont get me wrong its a great Prc but not nearly as good as others for taking lots of levels.

Re: Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
I've just confirmed... CoT is awesome!
I made one... my saves are:
Fort. 73
Reflex 80
Will 70
And I have no spellcraft... that's just base saves.

High ab, ac, and damage too.

Re: Extend Spell and Divine Wrath
my pally/cleric/CoT smiter can crank out close to 1k damage a smite on a crit..sometimes more. even to PM's.
my saves are well into the 60's, my ab is high, my ac is decent for a time and the damage output is nice.
