feats at
21 n
23 w
24 n
26 w
27 n
29 w
30 n
32 w
33 n
35 w
36 n
38 w
39 n

n= normal feat
w= wizard feat

I'm not going to make the effort to find out or explain why you get those feats. Im just saying this is what you get for pure wiz.

edit: ok, so i lied, i did take the time to figure out why. The wiz's bonus feat per 5 lvls changes to bonus feat per 3 lvls.
edit2: and it took about ten seconds to flip my instruction book open to wiz page where it is stated quite clearly.

edit3:

What's this all about?
Why would I lie when I just mentioned I have a level 30 wizard?
I just wanted to say we don't swim in feats.
And I do agree wizards are strong.
The only thing I request is that if you take 40 levels in wizard and you have epic spell focus conjuration, you get something better then a level 25, 39 ac balor.
And I recently found out incendiary cloud causes blindness :), which would be great if it didn't affect yourself and all your partymembers. But then again, it would probably be way overpowered without that. The joy of experimenting :D

probably not, gust of wind dispels it and when you walk out of it the blindness is removed immediately.

but anyway...wizards are still a lot easier to play here than a sorc. those 4 extra pre-epic feats and the immense skill points really help getting the necessary things. and dont forget...wizards can be made into huge tanks if you know how :)

i would help out sorc's first before wizards but either way, a pure mage is rough. you have to be incredibly smart with your spells or incredibly cheesey to stay alive (spam timestop).

I agree with the sorcerer part

I do, but I'd hate to think wizards need high ac to survive at +30 levels.
At the moment (on the occasions I solo) I use crowd controll spells (grease, web, acid cloud(which affects me too)) and (bigbees for the ones that escape) to immobilize monsters. I use some damage spells to soften up my targets and to place some direct kills, but my main damage comes from my Balor.
With my 193 hp and 40 ac, I need him to be capable or I need dominate monster to work again - why was it disabled anyway?

aye, you will be able to take hits..until epic warding wears off. but i cant see a mage getting much AC without multiclassing...at least not anything good

epic warding is great until you meet someone with knockdown.
But that's not the point, you shouldn't need high ac of hp, you should be able to get a good summon or a dominated monster or a controlled undead or something like that. If there is a class that shouldn't have be cabable of tanking it's a wizard or a sorcerer.

Problem with low AC wizard gets is that you get crited very often.

Pure class fighters and haste.

Post by Mestophalies »

Hey, just a thought here;

Why cant you just give pure class fighters monk speed in the appropriate incraments so that the need for haste will be a mute point. Then you could actually make them immune to haste and have it be a none issue and the possible exploit would be gone as well. Just a thought. :)

Barb, not Bard.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.
