Pure Barbarians
If Barbs have FOM it is news to me, and I help coordinate pure bonuses.
In regards to the spell haste being stripped, sure it can be, but does even happen 10% of the time, no, not in my experience.
Don't forget Blinding Speed if you're going to argue balancing either, since it lasts long enough at high levels to easily last whatever encounters you face, while still being unstrippable last I checked.

It's not that they're unstoppable as in you can't kill them... thats not what i'm saying.
I'm saying that this adds a whole new level of lame running around in circles to the already run-around-in-circles overload for the pvp on this server.
I hate to criticize the addition of new matieral, but the barbarian movement really should only be 130% Actually I'd be happy with anything under 145%. They should have to get a haste cast on them/ or use blinding speed to get the 150% movement rate like everyone else.
Monks, while almost as annoying, at least die when you crit them a few times when they run by you, whereas the barbarian soaks it up and then regens the rest of it.
I'd just like to see a slight decrease in the speed bonus
is a 15% movement rate decrease really that big of a deal? The barbarians are still gonna be faster than everyone after all the dispells/slows have been thrown down. they're still gonna have amazing melee power as well as incredible survivability.
With a speed decrease, at least someone who has the upperhand in dispells and buffs can at least take advantage of it.
I would like to make a prediction now... As barbarians are now, the future of PVP will come down to pure barbarian armies- which nobody will be able to kill since the injured one can just run around while it regenerates, backed up by a pure bard and maybe a cleric just for kicks.
Why would you need a sorcerer/wizard when your entire group already has haste, regnerates, deals magical damage, has great damage immunity, can cause fear, can paralyze, has flatfooted ac for running in circles while still able to dodge arrows, etc.
When the bards and or wizard/sorcerer have been killed, and the haste has been stripped, and melee classes are chasing you down- you deserve to die because your party got beat. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!
At least pure fighters die an honorable death when they are getting attacked by fully buffed opponents after they lost their casters and all their buffs dispelled.

anything is beatable, ya just have to figure it out. i am still sticking with my harms and greater ruin.... seems to work just fine for me. my cleric has alot tougher time with bards and pm's than barbs.
IDK what kind of noob barbarian you've been playing against, but a good one will run away from you when its getting hurt. Another barbarian will take its place. How many harms does it take to chip away 800+ hp? you don't deal enough fast enough to kill a barbarian who doesnt want to be killed. When he has run away, will you have enough spells to do the same to the next barbarian that is on you?
ALSO, you can harm and greater ruin anyone- that doesn't counter the point I am trying to make. And again- I have never said that they aren't beatable. A superiour buffed fighter(multi-class/pure) will be able to beat a barbarian just fine... as long as they stand there. As you have mentioned: a cleric casting harm/greater ruin on a stationary barbarian will probably be able to kill it.
Palemasters and bards have no ability to outrun somoene who has the ability to remove haste. And when they can't run, they can be killed via their weaknesses (divine/fire for PM's, and low hp for bards)
Barbarians cannont be outrun, if they die in melee it is because they are allowing you to kill them.

But yeah, toe-to-toe I can beat pure barbs fairly easily, but if they run around and i have to resort to ranged attacks, that gets annoying when you're chasing one regenerating and you have to stop to haste and they don't...etc...

the monk vs pure barb comparison is worth talking about, i think.
-monk speed (yay yet another class that can do the "run around.")
-d12 hit dice
-regen
-AOE stun that can get a better dc than stunning fist for much less investment
-regular class goodies like damage reduction
-any armor and any weapon
-fear aura (and 'just get 2 level 40' is not a great balance argument, from what i've read a design goal here is to make pvp viable at a variety of levels. pwn at level =< 39 doesn't really fit that stated strategy)
all of these added together make for something to watch for at least. lets see how it plays out.
edit: on a side note is there any way to remove the constant fear scream your toon does if he's NOT paralyzed by the fear?

Ok, this is nonsense. You have to learn young padawan...
Monks can get much higher AC... and nobody can get higher SR than a monk, and pure barbs do not run nearly as fast as a monk. Monks get immunity to disease/poison/mind effects and 50% concealment.
And terrifying rage is aura is easily blocked.
Perhaps you're using the wrong build against a barbarian?
