Well I just fought against a barb and he/she was a good fight. I was lvl 37 fighter and the barb almost had me if it wasnt for a friend to come along and take out the barb for me. True the bloody roar is nasty but hey alot of builds out there have a signature move. Thats the way a character is supposed to be noted for in my opinion. There are alot of strengths in the barb yet there is a weakness too. The weakness should get found out and then when you do find out hand them their head on a platter. Preferably a rusty one with lots of gunk on it. I cant wait to try out a pure barb.

On a related note:
I'd just like to say that while I was assaulting Garagoth last week there were some players who definitely didn't understand how to play dexers: They kept trying to chase me (I was a monk) instead of pulling out a bow, sling, or some type of ranged weapon and shooting me from afar.
I can't see how anyone can remain competitive with less than 2-4 different weapons for each character (talking non-caster builds)... unless you can HiPS and escape combat or have some other type of gimmick.
I say this all to point out that pure barbarian speed bonuses isn't that big of a deal compared to monk speed which has been around since the beginning and isn't going anywhere. If we could stop Sandy Cheeks, then pure barbarian speed isn't all that.

i dont think my sorc ever gets despelled......Bishop99 wrote:I didn't say anywhere that barbarians have higher than 150% moverate which would imply the stacking of movement increases...
They have 150% that doesn't get dispelled like anyone else with 150% moverate.
they are equal to someone hasted, but everyone else can have their haste stripped in some way.
I thought NS4 was never going to have boots with haste- but it seems to me that barbarians are getting them.
u got to also remember if u dont multiclass properly u are easily despelled.
tiny cant be despelled due to 35 caster levels.
so think about this .... th ebard is pure 40 levels .....
if u have 20-30 levels of caster u shouldnt be able to despell it anyways.
think of it like a pure 40 caster. then u would just be whining about the caster being undespellable.

actually there IS a way to strip haste off ANY caster level.MasterYoda wrote: ..

The spell haste can be stripped, period.MasterYoda wrote:i dont think my sorc ever gets despelled......Bishop99 wrote:I didn't say anywhere that barbarians have higher than 150% moverate which would imply the stacking of movement increases...

What i'm talking about is the barbarian haste rage which cannot be removed.
Nobody should get perma-haste or speeds equal to or greater unless they are monk.

Barbarians are faster than most other people due to their way of life. At lvl 40, a *pure* barbarian should be able to outrun you because of their superior physical condition. You can't dispell something that isn't a spell, just like you can't dispell a monk's speed.
...show of hands, people...am I making sense?

I move that we drop this in favor of more worthy endeavors.
they already did. the question here is whether *additional* speed alongside all the rest of their new abilities stack up to a balanced class. monk speed +aoe fear +debuff +roar.Blystos Re wrote:... be able to outrun you because of their superior physical condition...
folks may disagree but i think its a valid question to ask (absurd 'lrean 2 plya' comments aside)
its a bonus for going pure...extreme physical conditioning in that scenario leads to faster speed. it also make sense to apply when raging. the body does incredible things with high adrenaline...running fast is sensible.
pure fighters get more ab for focusing on battle prowess
pure paladins get better divine abilities for their dedication...
i think its all reasonable.
the AoE fear is almost useless btw. it does nothing for PvE...all monsters you fight by the time you can take the fear are immune to mind effects. in PvP it only affects those lower lvl than you...which gives those lower lvl than you a goal to reach (get same lvl or higher of the barbarian thats pwning me).

Psycho Banny and all his forms

this is true but sandy cheeks could be imploded from a rather large distance and so could any other monk, aslong as the cleric invested in their spell casting.LinuxPup wrote: I say this all to point out that pure barbarian speed bonuses isn't that big of a deal compared to monk speed which has been around since the beginning and isn't going anywhere. i guess what we really need is an epic will save spell. that would wipe them out...
anyway that all being said i think the barbs are great and arent that big of a deal to take down.... the white scythe build even has its weakness's.

Ok, disagreeing is fine, I admit that.disastro wrote: they already did. the question here is whether *additional* speed alongside all the rest of their new abilities stack up to a balanced class. monk speed +aoe fear +debuff +roar.

People should keep in mind though that not all pure bonuses are in...specifically Monk and Mage.

willow- if you mean PURE lvl40 babs, I've seen 3, you, lila and the -BB- but he's not on much. There are more pure barbs, but they're not quite lvl40 yet.
havok- nabbler!!11 I have 2 or 3 toons that can strip your sorc down in 1 or 2 hits of greater dispell. and 20-30 caster lvls is EASILY dispelled even without focus...
bishop- you're just mad cuz MA doesn't have barbs
but yeah, it's annoying to lay a grasping BB on a pure barb only to see 'Immune to slow' ;/ AND annoying that the only answer to unstoppable haste is ranged attacking or a monk or super-cheese-hasted part-monk.
disastro- bards, wiz and sorc's have a much harder to dispell speed spell ;] the rods don't work on it. But I kind of agree, the pure barb speed is a bit unfair especially considering they have extra regen, fom and other nice bonuses... but still, this doesn't make them totally unstoppable, just makes them as annoying as monks when it comes to relic ganking.
msk/P.Frice- yep.. monks, pure or not are not unstoppable either, it again is mostly that they just have a good chance of escaping with a relic because they can move so fast to the next zone and avoid many of the normal ways you can stop or slow down a player -- although-- i have stopped/killed sandy (and other barbs/monks) in the past many times, the last/final time i used invisibility to get in front of him and then ki-critted him dead in 3 hits... to which his reply was 'Wow'.
