Resting only every 16 minutes of real time? Would really slow down casters especially in pvp. Suddenly casters would have to have melee ability in order to be effective pvpers cuz they'll run out of spells before they can rest again. Slow down runs in really dangerous zones too. Can you imagine trying to do posi, neg, or HoD runs while only being allowed to rest every 16 minutes? Heck I've been with HoD runs where we had to rest three times before clearing the first room inside the burial mound. I really don't want to even think about trying to fight posi or neg planes with this limitation.
Additionally, instead of taking an hour or possibly 2 (depending on the party, and not including getting everyone rallied together and ready to go before even entering the planar zone) you'd be looking at a 2 hour run minimum and possibly 4 hours. This would in effect make it nearly impossible for those players out there who don't have a lot of time to play, to even get to make use of these zones.

I bet heal kits would be much more appealing suddenly. And some skill points would be invested into heal.
Yes, it would change the culture of play in NS4, but it wouldn't make it that much more slower. Actually I dont think it would. You would have to be more careful. Remember the enemy wouldn't be able to rest whenever they would want either. And yes the mobs do rest when they can

there's merit to a restricted rest system, however it is so far out of character for this action server that it really wouldnt work. it best fits slow-cookin rp worlds where all the zones and enemies are calibrated to a reduced rest system. the zones here are NOT.
for the best experience of that sort of play i'd suggest finding a server where reduced rest was a design consideration from day 1.

except that on a pvp server, folks who dont metagame their hps are at a substantial hp disadvantage to those who do. so everybody has to do it.
a fairer alternative would be to enforce random hit points on everybody.
as far as player convenience goes, i think max hps is a lot less of a metagame stretch than death express.

i agree completely about death express... you cant say "no metagaming" on this issue but we will give you an insta teleport token for that issue.
however- the staff always says they encourage roleplaying which is great, on that note i would like to see some parts of the server geared towards that. i have seen parts of it geared towards meta gaming, yet i havent seen the perks of going the other direction. perhaps a standard reward to those that choose to play flawed characters and roleplay them.
i wouldnt mind at all the server having another wipe, putting in a rest limit script. removing the death express option. getting rid of all transfer chests and insta ban for any character who logs with "** crafter" or "** mule" in the name. i guess what i am saying is i love to roleplay but its only fun when your around others who are doing so aswell.
i wouldnt mind at all if NS4 left the action server area and became a RP server. i seriously hope that NS5 will be a roleplay server because lord knows the gameplay of nwn2 is not enough to keep anyone around for long.
i lasted 3 weeks and think the game is garbage.

LMAO how longs this server been running, and only NOW some few ppl are realizing that the official stand is we dont like META GAMING and were never going to help you do it! but really its 99% META 1% RP

edit: if you want to RP go to arabel where it takes forever to get to lvl 5 and the High level players are 13th ect i like NS4 the way it is TYVM
the reasons guilds get xfer box is a RP reason they have a guild house its quite logical if they have a building they can store gear. thoes not int guilds LIVE IN THE INN i dont recall ever having a portable hole to my house that i can grab stuff from at any hotel ive ever stayed in. and honestly its very easy to get another players help you xfer.
as for the max hp thing OMG you mean i cant have a magic button that saves me a whole 45 seconds of re rolling my hp? boo hoo hoo
on DE please get over it everyone asked for a PK before this just saves the time of asking.
and honestly if you want to RP here NO ONE is stopping you its your choice to do such things theres not one thing in the rules or mechanics that prevents you from doing so.
if you want to play by HC rules and rest once per day go for it but dont try and FORCE everyone else to do so if you dont like it here you can always find another server.

I have a couple of thoughts on all this dramatic posting. This is just my view on the world I'm sure everyone sees these things slightly differently.
Generally speaking everything we do is designed to make things more fun. It could be trying to eliminate wasted time, provide more challenges etc etc. Even the nerf stick when used is ultimately done with this in mind.
You may think your spell blows after a change, but hey that poor fighter who stood no chance against it before is having more fun etc. Understand?
Death Express was added to the mod in controversial circumstances because it is pretty META as you state. However I find it much more agreeable to players stripping of their armour and murdering each other at the end of a run (yes you all did it).
I think that if I have a stance on re-rolling it's that the mod would be better without it and so why encourage it. We could have said the same for the DE, but how many games do you know that force you to play a level backwards once you've completed it?
I re-roll my toons. I bet nearly everyone does when the majority of NWN players do it then the rest almost have to to stay competitive.
I guess I would be more interested to hear peoples thoughts on us removing the chance of a re-roll.
PS: before we go there skill point carrying-over is one of the ways I see true master toon builders working with precise care and planning - you'll never convince me we should enforce using all skill points on level.

I like it how it is. Time is a commidity. If you take the time to reroll your hp's you deserve to get a max roll. An maxhp item would take the honour out of the time we've all spent re-rolling our levels.
Death Express- I like this feature very much for many reasons. It would sadden me greatly to see it removed. Most importantly its a time saver and in a mod where many hours/days are dedicated to leveling and exploring toons its nice to have a little break and shortcut once in awhile. I remember in the old days I'd even take an xp/gold hit just to get somewhere faster sometimes for an event/raid or just cause i had to log quick. Its added alot more time for fun to the NSexperience.

since you asked about re roll IF we disallowed it i would strongly encourage 3/4 base dice min on hp ive been on servers where you get one roll and theres nothing worse for a mage getting 2 hp on your level they get so fiew HP as is and to cut it in half is horrible and often deadly for the mostly pure mage/sorc. 3/4 of dice means mage get min 3 +con mod if any rogue get min 4 +con cleric 6 ftr 7 barbar 8. this would still give toons a good number of hp but prevent maxed rolls for every build but honestly im fine with the way it is now and see no real reason to change it.
the main ones who would be hurt by it would be mages and rogues and we would see far less casters around its already a nice perk if you can find a mage to level with adding one roll hp would make them even more rare.
