Yup, yup, yup and yup.

Making this watertight would be really really boring.

You cheating lot you!

Think I might go code something less boring instead. All agreed? great. lets move on.

Maybe add a time delay to use the option to prevent what you said Zing. Logging out before a naturally occurring death and then zipping off to the bind point would be an exploit. So although inconvenient having to wait X amount of time it would tend to discourage that type of behavior.

but you wouldnt get the welcome screen unless the server had crashed/reset

so what yer still dead, and once again you dont get the welcome screen by simply relogging unless the server has crashed/reset

very minor, you got plenty of opportunity to peacefully buff at most bind points. and you still dont get the welcome screen for just relogging

you have plenty of time to fully buff in peace no matter what at any bind point...as bind point killing is illegal

sorry, i assumed that the implementation of this idea would include a welcome screen on every login or else it would be quite useless. whats the point of having a "No DM Needed free me" option if you could only do it on a reset when there is normally a DM around, or if you havent used that character in awhile. either way...you end up with a huge downtime with whatever stuck character when you couldve just DE'd.

the last exploit was a far-fetched situation. i meant, if you are already buffed somewhere and suddenly someone needs help by your bind point -now- you could use it for quick travel. being able to buff up peacefully in the bind point doesnt help save time. and i figured your buffs would stay on since teleporting to bind point doesnt sound like any kind of death situation where you would lose said buffs...if you know what i mean

because you cant always just DE out, i mentioned that earlier
something about monster proximity and being stuck and unable to kill them

and there isnt always a DM around
working graveyard and playing thru the night on my days off i can say there is more often NOT a DM when i am playing
this seems especially tru on reflections, where i play most often lately

speaking of reflections this HUGE downtime is a max of 6 hours
thats not that bad
in fact, ive had to wait longer to be freed with the way things are currently

If you've been stuck for long periods of time you should join the IRC, or even make a post on the forums, I'm sure that will help quicken DM to come to aid you.

I honestly think this is making a mountain out of a molehill.

I have never got stuck in a NWN map in years and years of play. Sure I understand it happens occasionally, but this is hardly something that happens to someone on a regular basis.

If it happens on a particular spot we can adjust the map.

You can always log out and back in.

Hell Zing, you should know that we all specialize in making mountains out of molehills here in NS4. I mean we have to have something to climb to burn off all those extra calories after all the whine and cheese.

i never get stuck in mountains, just molehills that catch my heel heh.
but seriously, maybe my luck is just bad but i get stuck once a month.
i use the "back to the wall" tactic alot when i get swarmed and after im done dancing around in combat i cant move.
sometimes keyboard moving or relogging or emotes help
sometimes they dont

that might be your problem there...backing into a corner and letting the AI have its way with you will put you in odd places...in walls, behind doors, on top of the screen...its a mess.

Wait, really? I've gotten stuck several times. Although it usually always is fixable.

Only place I ever been stuck was on the edge of the nexus path where it has that "gutter" looking thing, but its pretty easy to avoid it.

There's also a console command to try: makesafe

(By default the ~ key opens the console. makesafe worked for me in the past, and has also failed to work.) Best is to log and have someone stand in the spot where you were before you log back in--that'll call up the engine pathfinding stuff and hopefully get you out of trouble.

Some tilesets have more sticky points than others, etc...
