As it is, AC outstrips AB with the currently dropping gear with armor/shield combos...

make the max weapon bonus +5 for 1 handed weapons +6 for gloves and 2 handed weapons and call it good. dont make anything better than is whats out there now
Agreed, this worked well in BG2.

Seems like this topic will always pop up. Another place I played off and on with this one had an identical discussion (over and over and over). I think the difference in working it out here is the strong backing from the devs.

I've seen where mobs were given gear that is improved over what they drop so that they remain challenging without overpowering the item set.

With gear becoming too good allows some new stat-dependant builds to be more plausible and some of the old standbys to be left standingby. Inevitable and not totally bad. Some classes like the barb and shifter and spells get left behind fast tho without some compensation for sure.

*edit* lol I'm PK bait. Ain't that the truth :(
