The bigger issue is what makes sense. Personally I don't think it makes much sense that the Earth Genasi's skin (whatever the power is meant to represent) de-activates (I can understand the need for the player to 'activate it' - limitation of the Bioware engine), but I would rather the AC and Damage reduction be perpetual (or 24 hours or whatever) then not last.
PS Levelling Earth Genasi Clerics doesn't sound like the biggest challenge there is on NS4. Your DR/AC Bonus is lasting likely because you have a very high AC to begin with.
well true, my build was designed well before I even began it, and I have standards of building (ie: minimum AB, AC, disc, etc...) that all my builds must meet before I even bother working on them. I don't really have the time to build weak toons for the 'challenge' of it, I get enough challenge once I get to the POS/NEG/HoD planes.
I would have preferred the +9 AC to be a solid ac that lasts for e.gen, BUT as far as I know, like the SR problem, it's an engine limitation.
But really, if you build well and play right the ability can be used to full effect -- the DR is great, it buys you time to kill the highest threat first before it collapses (since your natural ac will be boosted +3 or 4 over your ammy, and does stack over armor skin during that time which doesn't get reduced due to flanking).
