Skill Boost Books
I think it would be a really good idea to have book that boost skills. Like a book to boost your hide skill... Make them the same way as the ability books.. probably with a less harsh penalty. I dont know what do you guys think.... Would this be a good idea?

There is currently an indirect means of boosting your skills via Int boosting books. Read at the correct levels, you can get, I believe, an additional 50 skill points by level 40.
There are currently many skill-boosting items you can find that can boost skills (2 +5 rings make a +10 boost, and there are a variety of skills attached to rings you can find).
Bard songs can also boost skills by up to 14 points.
If the books could be used an unlimited amount of times, that would most likely be unbalancing. If there were say, a +5 and a +10 skill book and you could only use each once, it might be ok. I can see this helping pure builds out by giving them a boost in cross-class skills. Not entirely sure if it's needed, however. Every build has its weaknesses as it should be.

no. IMO i think this is overkill. the stat books n place modify the major stats, we need not throw in others as well......Mogath ::DD:: wrote:I think it would be a really good idea to have book that boost skills. A question for you all: Are the stat books coded so that you have to have a specific level to use them, or is it just assumed that you won't use a book at a point where you could loose several levels at a time?

I disagree with skill boosting books, skills dont not have a bonus cap such as stats do and implementing a boost greater than what is already given via items and bard song etc is overkill and unbalancing.

Has anyone seen any SD's with their H&MS checks anywhere near that high?

get enough fort and enough hide/ms and you are potentially invincible (baring lag and mistakes). though a non-rogue SD does minimal dmg normally..JesterOI wrote:I'm guessing a 38cleric/1something/1SD would be the ultimate stealth build, especially with help from a bard.
Though, what would be the point?
