Now all the planes are in...

Post by CrazyJ »

...so what's left?

Tweaks, job quests, and... what?

There are some gear lines that are underdeveloped...adding new areas would allow more non-artifact gear to be added in a way that makes sense and gives people more places to go and things to do (at this point there's a lot of that already).

Ideas:
(1) Werewolves. I don't know how many pre-existing models NWN has for these, though. Shouldn't be too hard to add a couple of colonies in different areas of the world, maybe of differing difficulty. Greater werewolves can be pretty tough (regen, DR 20/+3, SR, etc). It'd give Malar something to do, as well. This could be something for the level 14-17 crowd aside from Sunken and Mezzo. Or maybe make it an alternative to Ice Giants (*gasp horror*). Good opportunity here to add in some light hammers, maces, light flails, etc.

(2) High-level Ogres. The Ogres we have now are undisciplined barbarians. With some training to stiffen their spines, and armor, backed up by competent casters, a phalanx of ogre warriors could easily be in the low-20s CR range. Slow walking speed, high AC/good DR, good damage and AB.

(3) Dragons. Shiv'Las is good. Most of the other NPC dragons are kind of pointless... they don't drop much aside from gold. Drakmarr, Angmar, etc... why bother making the long trips to kill them? Dragons should at least have a higher chance of dropping artifacts, books, and other good stuff. Right now that does not appear to be the case. The same is also true for Jinn Woo Voss or whatever his name is (Ice Efreeti boss).

(4) Illithid and Beholders. The Underdark is only travelled now by RK, SL, and those raiding them.

Oh, and actually, dragons do have a higher chance of dropping artifacts by the way.

we've only filled our complement of inner planes. there are *dozens* of outer planes available for implementation.
I imagine sometime there are plans for super epic areas that even 20+ level 40 cheese builds would have trouble with. that'd give even the chronically bored pvpers something to do.

and what is it with Illithid and beholders? are they really *required* to make the universe complete? geez.

Yes

Well, they are available so why not use them? Not a good design philosophy, really... just thinking of possibilities.

I really want to see werewolves.

There's actually quite a few mid lvl epic monsters in the 2nd p n' p monster manual book that id love to see implimented in NWN, if its even possible.

Hellfire wyrm (demon dragon)
Corpse tearer (uber dragon)
Bone ooze (giant, uber rolling ball of jelly that tears the bones out of your body)
Corpse gatherer (huge, humanoid walking graveyard)

ect ect

And speaking of werewolves, they did have a werewolf "skin" on another server i played on. Was RARELY given out because of the unbalanced bonus's they gave the player, but if the devs could think of a way to balance whatever perks you'd get for being a werewolf, i think it would make a great subrace.

i would like to see more planar civilizations if possible. so far its only the dwarven plane that has some sort of civilization. the others are like less sentient (oozes and gelatin) or deranged mobs scattered.

mmm, a moleman town equivilant :o ... hehe , all and all you get the same immediate result -- xp and the possibility of gear. :) more uniques / artifacts are always a cool addition , say +4 and +5 shortbows seem to be uncommon

how about some dimi planes for lower level toons as alternatives to ogres haddon mirk ect. maybe a dimi plane portal in mezzoloths and other less used areas that leads to a 4 exit nexus for lvls 15 to 25?

this would be a great place to add new items maybe some no dm needed quests too.

Planes are far from done. All but a few need tweaks. Just got back from a party of level 35s from Halls of the Dead with a Cleric, two Dwarven Defenders, and a Monk.

Oh god help us...

Yup, back from the same party. The proper entry in Hall of the Dead didn't allow any casting? The CR of the mobs are a bit low compared to their prowess.
The KD bolt attack is just nasty. Spamming grease in the dungeon is even worse. Ah well...
