Dye: Faction Colors
Dye: Faction Colors
It would be cool if there were a option for us to dye our armor with the colors of our faction. It would be cool to have the same colors as our guards, and it would allow people to identify your faction on sight.
You could place an NPC in each city's Barracks, or maybe on the smithy and general goods stores. There would be a price for dying. I also suggest that, for factions that have jobs implemented, to make it obligatory to complete both jobs (thus becoming a reckognized defender of your faction) before you can enjoy this service.

Yeah, but I can't buy it, can I? I must kill my faction's guards (and thus become an Outcast) or ask someone (or use other toon) to do it.actually, all you need do is wear your factions armor, it is already dyed....
And besides, this limits gear choice. If I could dye my items, then even as a low-level character people I could use wear my faction colors.
You can differentiate enemy from friend, but do you know what is their faction? It would be cool to tell if someone is NC, RK or LA, for example.Identify faction members on site ? yea hence the blue name opposed to a red one
Yes, but what if I want to look like my faction, not like my guild? And also, I have no guild.Guilds already possess this option.

Thats not much better. Paying someone to kill the guards so you can get their armor. Its like paying someone to kill your wife, its the same thing as killing her yourself. I think all we need is a quest so we can get our faction gear.
- Falme's Seclusion - You must take bag of goods to the Head of Falme (in the Arcane Arts building in Falme). After that, he asks you of a favor. Falme is extremely secluded, on a peninsula isolated by bandits. It doesn't help that the ferry service can attract...troublemakers. He asks you to clear the Coastal Road and Rock Peak of Bandits. After that, he gives you some gold and xp(1k gold and 500 xp) for the favor.
- Evenshire's Dilemma - After finishing with Falme, you must deliver another bag of supplies to Evenshire. The Innkeeper tells you of his problem. His inn never gets any business, because of all the goblins, bandits, and other things all around Evenshire. He asks if you could possibly spread the word of his inn to LA, RK, and NC. Doing so gets you (2k gold and 1k xp), you talk to each of the innkeepers in each town (TC would never sleep indoors...hippies).
- The Last Expedition - You must travel to the depths of the South Tower, and defeat its Lord Demon. You also must find the rift portal and get a drawing of it (you must get the pen and paper from the Library 2nd Floor gy).
New quests are always good, but come at some problems. For example, all of the quests you mentioned can be completed fairly easy for a medium-to-high-level character. By the time you finish them, you would receive gear that would become worthless as you level more, and thus you would drop your faction items.
I think dying is a nice solution, since whatever you can use, you can personalize. Make it costly, like 10,000 gold for it, but it would still be cool, and I doubt it would be so hard to implement.

mmmm i would think having faction jobs completed across the board would be alot more useful than worrying about the color of a character....
we dont want to drive the dev's completely insane

hehe.. do you realize how many different types of dyes their are? Coming across just the right combination of dyes to match your faction colors in all three dye types would be even more difficult then finding stat boosting tomes for all your attributes or even collecting one of each of the artifacts currently available. I kinda like the idea of a dye NPC that will do it for you. Even if it for a price it would deffinatly let people show off their loyalties if they so desire.Death Dealer1 wrote:why can't you find the dye and color it yourself for free?

All counter-proposals here can be listed as:
- Kill your own faction guards and take their stuff.
- Pay someone to kill your own faction guards and take their stuff
- Find the right Dyes and dye your armor
- Just don't do it because I don't want it.
If you don't like it, do not use it. Put some restrictions for using the service, like:
- Must have completed both faction jobs (for Factions with jobs)
- Must pay a hefty price, like 7,000 gold to dye armor and 3,000 to dye your helm.
What are the benefits of it?
- People can be reckognized by their faction.
- It is an optional thing. You don't like it, you don't use it.
- Since you are dying your armor, you have more equipment options to have the colors, instead of having to rely on faction-specific high-level gear. Even a low level character would be able to use faction colors.
- It would be an additional incentive for people to come back to their home cities in order to dye their new equipment.
- It is not so hard to implement. NPCs that dye your equipment already exist in guild halls, sowhy not add them to each city's barracks or castle?
- Has no impact on gameplay. It will not give you any new bonus or advantage, you would just look different. So, what's the big deal?
