Faction vs Faction Quests
Faction vs Faction Quests
(I have played only two characters so far, one from NC and other from LA, so don't get angry if I don't mention any ideas for your favorite factions. The idea here applies to all factions).
There's something I would like to see in the game: lower-level Player attacks on smaller faction outposts around the world. As a Paladin of NC or a swordsman of LA, I often find some faction NPCs with their own names and such, but they seem to have little motive to be there.
I would like to see special faction quests that start at 11th level and go up to 30th level. In these quests, you talk to a certain faction NPC in an outpost, who then asks you to attack specifc units, outposts or NPCS of an enemy faction. These quests should be available also to characters of an allied faction. Once you complete it, the NPC either gives you another quest to attack another outpost or NPC, or directs you to another NPC that you must talk to receive a new quest.
For example, taking my view from the Northern Coalition lands. Since NC and TC are allied, both could receive these quests:
- A NPC (in Melencia for the CIrcle, in Daeron for NC, or a diplomat for both factions in Avendell) asks you to go to talk to a guy in Beryn.
- You talk to a NPC in Beryn, who then asks you to break the AO siege by killing 20 or more Disciples in the regions near Beryn.
- After killing Diciples, the same NPC asks you to defeat the siege leader, a named Disciple of CR 16 or so, who commands the siege. You could include a new NPC in the forest east of Beryn that we must kill.
- Return to Beryn, talk to the NPC again. He asks you to meet the ranger inside one of the houses in Beryn. The ranger talks about how we can cripple the dragons by slaying the fledgings in the first AO outpost east of Beryn. Go there and slay the fledgings, then destroy the outpost. Return to Melencia.
- Now you are asked to steal an artifact that drops from a AO mob in the outpost south of Sleeth. Kill all Dragon Disciples, get the artifact and return.
- You are sent to the Dragon nests east of Sleeth. Kill X young dragons and Y juvenile dragons, then proceed and kill both Frost and Scorch, the two adult dragons that reside there.
- Return to Melencia, you are now asked to enter Sleeth and kill a named Dragon there. Return to Daeron and talk to the high command to get your reward.
The rewards for each step could be XP or item-based. Maybe you can choose an item (among three or four choices) that is specific for the faction you are working for. The last reward should be some XP and a powerful unique item of your choice. The items should be armor, shields, boots, gloves, amulets, rings, etc. Things that are not feat-dependant (like weapons). Or some new artifact like the ones you receive from jobs, but more powerful.
I think each set of allied factions should have a total of three series of quests like these. NC and TC could get to attack SL, MA and AO. Quest giving NPCs would stay near the targets (for example, Beryn is close to AO, but maybe it would be needed to add special NPCs in Western Slope and Grey Shores for such factions). The quest-giving NPCs would sometimes be also targets for the opposing factions' own quests and so on.
You don't need very complex quests, most should be just kill X number of enemies, kill special named boss, or retrieve such artifact that is dropped in a certain area.

I like the Idea of this happening!!
There are quests to come and Metis holds quests form time to time check link:
http://www.nsrealm.com/boards/viewtopic ... ght=quests
Unfortunately Matis has stopped quests for the time being (hopefully not for to long)
TGPO has also told us about quests that are to be:
http://www.nsrealm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=3693
The quests I am looking forward to as I am to believe that not all quests that TGPO has mentioned are in as yet but I am anxiously waiting

I did stop for a while due to the fact my events (I sometimes go a little crazy with visual effects) was causing a heavy workload on the server. Since then there have been numerous improvements on the server/database mostly behind-the-scenes stuff but it is making an impact.
Also, with the planes coming in, along with new monsters, items, etc there has been more of a demand for testing and other things related to them. Add to that the new jobs being added, it’s plenty of great stuff.
I hope to hold more in the near future even though with the planes (reaching much higher levels then when I first started holding events) finding a good level range will be harder to make it challenging while not also to easy.

i would like to see wars between the gods..i've mentioned it before but some ppl didn't like the idea. thought maybe it would create tensions. say if Lolth commanded her minions to kill so many of her enemies from RK in a set time frame. this would be like a pvp hunt set forth by the goddess.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.
That would be very cool.
Pretty much anything with DM involvement is fun...even when it's limited to monster spawns to challenge a specific party.
Announce a DM event and the invited level range, and kick anyone from the party who doesn't fit in that range.... helps you know what to expect capability-wise.
DM events are also a good chance to set things up so people get to explore less well-known areas like the Black Marsh, the Niragawa area (I don't know where it is), etc.

There are others, and i believe they have been posted on the forums...they came out better than this one...seems my print screen button is tempermental....., but here is one -- this was a great time
Melikki and Lolth go at it !

Re: Faction vs Faction Quests
The NPCs such as the various Marshals of NC, Vulzner, Naz'ezz, Jenaquaiz, Lagnar, Tagnar, etc. do have a purpose: to drop gear for the rest of us. Even Artemtis Leonsbane I suppose, but I will attack anyone I see trying to kill him.Deicide wrote:As a Paladin of NC or a swordsman of LA, I often find some faction NPCs with their own names and such, but they seem to have little motive to be there.

Sure there's a lot of good stuff for high levelers, but I must re-iterate that I'd really like to see some more quests for low level players, especially those from places like TC where there is nothing.
