How bout some modifications to the harper scout class? Since it was brought up altering RDD specials by dragon type I'm sure you could come up with some boosts for this under played PrC.

I'm thinking that this could be a possible class combination between a ranger and a monk (ie some movement speed/AC bonuses and "natural" affinity type feats/spellcasting.). In terms of not being allowed to become "epic" maybe alter that and give them limited access to monk/ranger specific epic feats. It would definitely give the ranger class some options for play at higher level.

I don't know what the limitations are on how far you can custom code existing PrC's but it would be nice to see some use for this neglected class.

Whoops, class changes are mostly only possible with a hak. Besides, the first thing I would do would be to rip Divine Grace off Paladins that fall or stop being Paladins--think of the powergamers ;)

Harpers are specific to FR...really don't see the need for it to be a class at all except as a bullet that marketing can throw on the book/game. The benefits are situational and seem to be more for RP flavor anyway and that can be done without Harper as a class. Just seems that the only purpose for the class out of the box is to cheat in a few more epic feats for a character with a class slot to spare.

What Harpers represent in FR can/will be done with the major factions anyway.

Its not so much a question of what the class is intended to be by the developers, but a question of whether you can make it a viable option for use (as opposed to a marketting bullet as you put it.).

How bad would it be to make a small hak file for class modifications anyway? Its obvious the issue has arisen about certain classes taken to first level for "munchkin" builds (as the term goes..).

No matter what measures are taken, certain character builds will always rise to the top as far as who plays what due to the nature of the game's balance.. Maybe the answer isn't to "nerf" everything and slow the game down, but to simply expand player options and give a sense of advancement, adapt the monsters and world to contend with the players. If its obvious some classes dominate in some areas while others fall behind, create areas that the opposite is true.. that those characters who dominated before don't fair as well as the others.

While we're on the subject of stripping divine grace from fallen pallies or pallies that are no longer pallies, don't forget to limit monks as well. Monks aren't supposed to be able to re-level monk once stopped.

But I'm sure there are tons of character limitations we could all come up with if we wanted to... but this is a Hak-less mod.
