Dragon Breath
Most people get dragon shape at lvl 33+, and considering the multiple counters to it, IMO it should get a decent damage increase considering that it's a high epic lvl spell (Note: at lvl 33, assuming you get ONLY druid/shifter classes (And if you get no shifter classes, you get a -4 penalty, so normally 20d10 becomes 16d10), the damage you get is a pathetic 18d10 for a Full round action that can be avoided by running out of it's range since it takes forever to cast it , so you can essentially halve the damage to account that most casters who have auto-quicken spells can cast 2/round.
Point in case: There are numerous reasons why it needs a boost, IMO it can all be solved by a simple increase in damage, to say.. SL+DL lvl d10/8/6 depending on what shape you get, oh btw, to add to the problem list, RDDs are immune to fire, so good-bye fire dragon breath against RDDs

Personally, I wish it weren't Red Dragon Disciple. It should've been Dragon Disciple or maybe Ancient Dragon Disciple. This way, the form of Dragon or the type of breath weapon (or really, all of the abilities) could have been based on your alignment. This would have allowed for more variety on the types of attacks since each color (alignment) of Dragon has different element types and this variety would have prevented how easy it is to protect against them all.
Oh well..
If there was a way to impliment this in a module, then I'm all for it.. otherwise.. it's too bad, I guess.. lol

::ducks the forum police:: lol Actually, it's not clear that I didn't read the original post. It's clear that I made a mistake. Perhaps I should stop being human and try a gnome with their superior intelligence.
Actually.. I have no idea what I was thinking.. but yeah, it's a great idea. Someone pull some strings at Bio, eh?

I think the Red Dragon Disciple had to do with lack of artist time to make wings for multiple Dragon types. It apparently takes more than just applying a new colour filter to the existing wings.

It seems like they could do it with a patch or something now (I only say that because I would prefer they didn't put out another expansion we have to payf for. lol).. I bet there are hundreds of people who could do it for free for them now. Or maybe that was the idea.. maybe they wanted more expansion material to squeeze a few more bucks out of the franchise.DrakhanValane wrote:I think the Red Dragon Disciple had to do with lack of artist time to make wings for multiple Dragon types. I stopped keeping up with PnP DnD once people stopped getting together to play PnP in the entire state of Georgia.. so I didn't know if RDD was an actual class as written in PnP or not..

Yup, Bioware kept pretty close to the actual D&D Dragon Disciple class. (In PnP it's merely Dragon Disciple and you could pretty much choose your flavour). They merely limited it to Red. Unfortunately I think the Live Team doesn't have much of a graphics budget and variations on Dragon Disciple are probably not high on their priority list. I'm hoping for it though. :)

Well, I just sent them an email about it. If I get anything other than a standard form letter response, I'll post it here.
Oddly enough, they are hiring. Of course, you have to be willing to become Canadian which is not likely for me. LOL.. there is ALWAYS a catch..

I did receive a generic email at first.. but later.. I received the following (cross your fingers):

Hi Don,
That is actually a really interesting idea. I'll forward this to the
appropriate individuals for further consideration.
Thanks again,

Greetings!
We were having a discussion on one of the many
forums about the Red Dragon Disciple class. I brought
up a point that people seemed to love and so I thought
I would pass it along to you.
I don't see why there are just Red Dragon
Disciples. It seems like there would be disciples for
every dragon type (or at least multiple dragon types).
It makes very little sense that anyone with a
differing alignment than a Red Dragon would be a Red
Dragon Disciple.
The idea was to basically have Dragon Disciples.
The type of Dragon you would emulate would depend upon
your alignment. The dragon type that you were most
closely aligned to would determine what breath weapon
you possessed, the color of your wings, etc.
Alignment changes would not change what type of
disciple you were. Alignment would only be a factor
in which dragon you initially emulate.
I am still fairly new to the NWN community, but
this seemed to be something that needed to be hard
coded in the system to work properly. I honestly
don't see it taking much more than recoloring the
wings, programming the engine to set a dragon type
based on the character's alignment and changing the
current code for RDD for each dragon type to alter the
damage type of the breath weapon ability.
I hope that you would consider this for an upcoming
patch. Of course, you know we would settle for an
expansion, but we would take what we could get. =)
Thanks for your time.
