Heres an idea I was thinking of. How about along the paths to the cities, station forts. These forts would be PC controled and grant XP bonuses to those owning em (to encourage the takeover of forts) Say every hour or two, based on how many forts your team owns x your current level (to avoid level 1's getting 10,000 xp, and to also encourage high levels to continue to takeover/defend forts) = XP. Also, a flag you can raise with your colors to show who is currently in control of the base. And maybe the ability to call in guards from you town (based on your level, guards CR like lvl 6 drow would get the drow scouts to defend a fort they currently possess) to help defend the fort. Maybe a shout in the shout channel saying something like "____ Fort has been taken by the Shadow Legion!" to encourage the people of nearby factions can go take back the fort
So like, what I was thinking was; (ballanced number that seems reasonable) x (total forts owned by faction) x (level) = XP given on this hour.
Of course, the forts given in the XP could only be server wide, so that may be an issue with ballance (unless the servers could communicate how many forts are owned on one another to transfer the xp)....as people hanging around home all day would get xp...maybe, if there is not one already, an idler kicking script to avoid people idleing for XP.
Another idea, to help with the server-split, maybe like x10 xp for enemy forts (you'd only get the xp from the forts you own in enemy territory, as you'd be in another server and not be getting the xp from your own forts) to encourage people to attack one-anothers forts.
IMO, this idea would quickly up the PvP factor again.
Idea: Player-maintained Forts!

I agree, would give pvp more purpose (it needs more), another interesting twist would be to encourage pvp through guild recognition, kind of like in Dark ages of Camelot.. Give the guild/clan leader tokens to give to guild members.. if so many exist in a fort they control it.. or allow them to build one somewhere, within some restrictions.. that can be taken by other guilds if they have enough members swarm it (problem with this though is not enough members being online) implementing some guild recognition with forts or something would help pvp though, see alot of faction wars being played out through particular guilds (ive noticed mostGuilds have restricted themselves to one partucual;ar alliance..)
"If you are 20 and not yet a communist you lack heart, If you are 30 and you are still a communist you lack rationality" ~ dont remember.
Strange. I've noticed little care for faction by the guilds or anybody for that matter. It's all about killing the guards for teh uber loots. Fix the rampant disregard for faction, and then work on a keep system.
-Give bonuses for every PC kill within 5 or so levels.
-Add shops that can only be accessed by LOYAL faction members.
-Have a defense system where a 16th cleric can't take on the capitol cities... solo.
-Add more areas so it isn't so crowded in the hot xp spots (Giants). Right now factions have to share their xp spots because of the lack of decent areas to level in.
-Fix the hostility bug
. It's hard to tell who IS and who ISN'T and enemy if their hostility changes all the time.
-Have synergy bonuses to give more xp to groups made up of one faction and its allied faction.
Once there is a solid foundation to the faction system THEN start working on ideas like claiming forts, capturing flags, and going to Atlantis... err... ignore that last one.
Then the devs can focus on making those things work, and work well. No sloppy half-arsed jobs because they were also trying to fix the issue of summons causing xp deaths. Among other things.
