Possible Bigby L7? and monk/blinding speed issue

Post by Opie Crimeria »

Hello
I had an issue recently in PvP where bigby L7 (I think L7) was used on my CoT with monk + blinding on. When the spell expired; my speed was still reduced. I think blinding was removed before the blinding timer expired.

This happened each time; roughly 4 times. I believe the monk speed remained but blinding was removed. At least three of the times were right after rest and buff to defend. The speed 'seemed' the same as the PC runs with at normal monk speed.

Monk speed and slow has always been bugged since the rework 6 odd years ago. Armor+blinding/haste+monk levels also have a bug aswell

Adding to backburner, no guarantees if/when but will look at some time. may/may not happen/be worth it.

Neg Energy Burst with encumbrance causes it too... if you restore yourself, you've still lost blinding. If you don't get encumbered, then it doesn't bug out.

The monk speed + blinding/haste + armor bug is problematic in NC. Monk is the only base class with tumble that can be paired with paladin, which makes many paladin builds with armor unusable.

any monk (lvl14 or lower) that has blinding or haste or any kind of speed increase will lose all monk speed if its speed is reduced in any way (slow, neg burst, shield use, encumbered), even if restored the toon will only move at regular non-monk+haste speed afterwards until it rests. this probs been around for ages.
The truth is just an excuse for those with a lack of imagination.

cuz some of us use to run around with triple hasted monks so fast the dm's had a hard time keeping up, when they changed monk speed with haste is when it started
along with not being able to just extend haste and the fix would prolly bring back monks with speed so fast,
i timed myself 45 seconds from LA to NC via black hills, we didnt have dragons at that time
if that gives you an idea of how fast

Yes, it was set back to the old way for a little while a couple years ago. I think it was just a test...

I ran with laufer (30 monk +BS) from cradle to cradle, SL to RK in ~2:30. Stupid narrow bridge in the tunnels with rats wasted a good 10-15 secs too 8(

If you get the haste DM blessing it will stack with multiplicatively with blinding speed. That is pretty fun :D

(but only if you are a monk, all other classes have a bioware-imposed 150% speed cap, which is why hasted barbs don't get 160% speed, even though barb speed technically stacks with everything but monk speed)

I remember when expeditious retreat used to stack with haste. Those were the times :).

No Rufio, it's an NS speed limit. And it varies slightly between race/funny business/other appearance, I only went so far with the calculations.

Is this why toons skinned with the DM wand run slightly slower than normal? Would be nice if that was fixed so players would make use of this great feature.

Kind of, it's complicated. And it'd be an issue bio as well as our way.

I'm not sure what you mean regarding the speed limit lokey. According to my "sources" (nwn wikia), there is a bioware imposed 150% speed limit on all classes but monks.

Source: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Movement_rate

That page also explains why people with altered creature skins from DMs run slower than normal PCs and explains how speed stacks.

So we don't need that stupid extra line of code? :(
