Blindness changes
Re: Blindness changes
My 35 cleric / 5 PDK is a pretty sickening build. All those TASTY PDK options with huge cleric to back it up. But the NC folks would rather say "NC sucks" than build viable NC toons. . . sigh.
Throw in some rogue/bard/assassin and carry some wands and scrolls, thats what umd is for! Let the wizards blow off mords to rid you of your 20 charge wand of FoM, Ill take bets who runs out first FoM or Mords

Alright Kor, i bet your PDK is awsome, but after i have hellballed greater ruined and slowed you to a crawl, and interupted your healing by spamming igms i doubt you make it half way across the room. NC doesnt suck, lots of fun stuff, but is at a clear disadvantage.
Since when are FoM wands auto quickened?

Re: Blindness changes
I'm still waiting for Korr to dazzle us with his NC builds that were gonna "rock" the server. Still waiting to be shown how its done, cuz obviously me and the rest of that also play in NC don't know how.Korr wrote:My 35 cleric / 5 PDK is a pretty sickening build. Trust me, we're intimately familiar with what build options are available, we had a nice lil bard/pdk in FoN but he disappeared on us, something about burra stinking things up. Oh YEAH! and the constant nerfs to clerics lol. Then there is the other instance that we just don't have the time to build and play like everybody else does. I'm proud of the fact that I have 3 level 40's, two of them in NC. Just don't have the time to build EVERYTHING that we might need, so we build what we want. But whatever, the blindness changes only enhance our dex builds but we just don't have the access to the smack laying down mages and we want some. Give NC sorcerors and we'll stop whining, how's that

Seriously Bishop outlined all the problems with why changing blindness was silly. Nothing more needs to be said;, except let me give Korr some more love;
Keep your cleric/pdk to yourself, the only thing you've done to date is build an air elemental/sd and while I credit you with coming up with a great idea, you didn't "build" it, Lokey built it for you

I'm just hoping for at least -20 ac.
I know it sounds crazy but tbh thats what you need it to do. AB, with the exception of a few builds (aa, wm, cot, pure bard great dexed out) does just not get high enough to hit the AC's that you can get on this server.
We've got a pretty basic bard that can get himself up to 85 AC... Do you know how he dies? WOF and IGMS.
Even when you WOF him, his buddy is gonna cast remove blindness (its an AOE), or if he is in AO/RK he'll just read a greater restore scroll... don't get me started on that. So if the effect isn't dramatically good enough for those couple rounds when you actually get them blind (thats if you got through thier cleric's SR, and your team stripped away the spellmantles) then it won't be worth using and you end up with the uber AC and IGMS dominating the playing field. Personally... i'd rather see the server become more diverse with what types of builds can be viable in pvp- and in my opinion.. WOF allows that to happen because nobody is out of your reach when you have the right teamwork.

Re: Blindness changes
Remove Blindness/Deafness wasnt working on party when we tested it..only caster.
Re: Blindness changes
We used to use it all the time when we actually played vs clerics. You had to be around the same level as the WOF caster for it to work iirc... but maybe its not like that now.

Re: Blindness changes
Yeah Jack's correct about remove blindness. I noticed it the other day, one of those "unannounced" changes I guess. I kept trying to cast it on the ground next to me with Menelandro and no workie anymore.Bishop99 wrote:We used to use it all the time when we actually played vs clerics. Another thing this greatly affected was touch attacks. Harms/inflicts were a big part of the damage arsenal of a cleric. Now 16 dex just doesn't cut it anymore. I couldn't even get a touch attack against plate wearing targets in pvp the other day. Why? Cuz they get to keep their dodge AC now. WoF was a sure way of at least removing dodge AC to make touch attacks more viable. You've taken that away from wisdom based caster clerics.

*looks for tissue or shoulder to cry on*
How are caster clerics supposed to farm posi now? HOW!? I ask you.
*runs away crying dragging toys behind him*
What else was changed, earthquakes were made non-party friendly, there's a rumor going around that implode won't work as an AoE spell against sneaks unless you can actually see the target. He's got great listen when he has a bard to buff him so that isn't that big a deal.
Also something else I've noticed, mainly when sneaks tryto attack Menelandro. Was there some change implemented to negate the effect where a hidden attacker no longer receives the bonuses if a listener can *hear* the target. In the past, a sneak was just about guaranteed to hit Menelandro even if he could spot with his listen skill. But in pvp that seems to no longer be the case. UNLESS I can't spot them. Just something I thought I'd throw in there, cuz I'm starting to rant now.
So with the change to remove blindness, the change to the blindness dynamic, the changes to earthquake and implode, you've left my NC evocation based cleric with uhhh, yeah I can't see anything good about what he can do. I got nothin right now. Everything else that he has for evocation based spells, sunbeam, firestorm are easily negated with good reflex. Sunbeam isn't even party friendly lol. I guess I should have gave him magic domain at least I'd have a hit anything ice storm and NEB.
Why can't you just give us the changes to spells? I don't understand why changes are made and the changelog isn't used.

Oh my goodness

Seriously though, it would be nice if the changelog was used so we as the player base don't have to find out that the rules of the game have been redefined by trial and error. Just cuz one of the devs has the handle of Lokey doesn't mean that you have to live up to it

While we are listing changes not noted...
FD and Ave are now 'Haven' zone.. and within a haven zone you can no longer change form via druid or shifter forms. I can speak for arcane shapechange, but I would assume the same.

IIRC you still can change to dru shapes or rdd dragons only if you dont have mnk/barb lvls, although I am not sure about shifter/shapechange spells

Re: Blindness changes
This is probably somehow related to the pure fighter token bug... not sure what's causing this but we'll fix it.Another change, mord doesn't autoremove mage mantles anymore.

Mord never did auto-strip mantle, it auto-strips 6 protections, if they have more than 6, then there's a chance mantle won't come off.
Re: Blindness changes
But there's a list of the order of spells to be striped by mords and I believe greater mantle and mantle are the top 3 in that list, which means they should be always stripped by mords even you have more than 6 protection spells.

Re: Blindness changes
Although it's not said in the change log, but I guess they added fom, uef, and ava into that list as well, which are not included in the original breachable list.
