Raiding NC will get you in trouble with free people of Melencia. While NPC's might even praise you, TSS will make sure to make your life miserable!Wolfarus wrote:Ok.. so if you go hostile on your ally by killing their guards, you can now raid their cradle as any other enemy, right?
If thats the case, then i guess ill plan on being an eventual enemy of NC, since there is apparnetly no real alliances when it comes to what really counts

Well, relations between TC and NC definitely wouldn't fit in your view of NS4. But slaves to the dragons in search for quick path to power wouldn't understand that.Chernobyl_Glow wrote:It is disappointing that in the NS4 view an alliance is simply an agreement by both to suffer in lieu of a fight which breaks an alliance.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
Three simple questions remain unanswered for me.
1. Was this a change or has there never been a relic bonus?
2. What is the benefit of upholding an alliance other than a general decency? Why have alliances?
3. Can I drop my ally's relic in their cradle? Trusek mentioned that this seems bugged. Otherwise the system forces us to betray our ally.
Daltian, You must to agree that the price of respecting an alliance leaves both parties at a disadvantage. NC and TC will never full bonus which is a shame.
Frustrating.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
Well. We often have full bonus except one relic, that is NC. And it isn't frustrating at all. Advantage is that if we loose some relics and NC goes to pick them up. They don't have to raid us to get their relic back. Other advantage is that we formed trust between our two factions and almost always there is NC defending TC cradle or TC defending NC. Its not all about bonus. There are other things you need to learn to accept and enjoy.Chernobyl_Glow wrote:Three simple questions remain unanswered for me.

Like in real life, you need to give something to get something. Greed will get you nowhere. I know this will be difficult for ex LA to understand and accept. You are used to depend only on yourself. Now you need to put trust in your short allies.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
1. xp bonus has never been shared between alliances...ever
2. your faction formed an alliance with another faction so that it wouldn't get monkey stomped off the face of aetheria....not so it could own relics. relics were discovered later...and have no bearing on the alliances made. except that your faction wants them all for themselves.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
Thank you Tep. Still question 3 remains unclear. Trusek's character (of AO) was unable to drop the RK relic in their cradle. Is this Intentional or Bugged?
Daltian, You and I share stance as far as allies. Yet you accuse me of being greed motivated? You misinterpret drastically if you think I am concerned about being rewarded while they have the relics. Right now it is unfair to them since they choose not to come take them from us. We have them all since we are unable to drop theirs to them. As for Greed: My concern on this subject has nothing to do with Greed. My concern is over the restiction against sharing. Apparently sharing success is not allowed. To be clear, I'm disappointed that while AO has all the relics, RK our ally has Zero bonus. My concerns are based out of generosity and fairness to our partner.
I'm not a bad person or a greedy one. Only a few minutes of game time with me would clarify that. I'm even decent about it when I win a fight (though it happens rarely
) . The other thing that should be clarified is that all four new Guilds in AO and RK are more than willing to be strong allies. We will experience no inner faction distrust. None of this is difficult for ex LA to understand. I asked if there were oTheR reasons beyond general decency. Your confirmation is that there are none other than trust. Trust is more highly coveted by me than any other thing. I simply do not think it necessary that the relic system creates a motivation to betray your ally. Can I resist that motivation. Absolutely. Can all of AO and RK? Absolutely. Just as you've made clear for others -who I think was only trying to make a point- any renegades who betray that trust will have betrayed all four guilds.
Like jebbo mentioned, what is the harm if the relic system were to reward your ally for being a good ally? Even a partial bonus would be enough to discourage betrayal. (Unless the system has been intentionally designed to promote betrayal. If that is the case then I we have another issue entirely.) Why shouldn't they enjoy even a partial bonus? They help defend as a good ally. They helped get one relic for the cause team. The relic systems simply rewards characters willing to betray factional allies and does not reward those that respect it (with the exception of the reward of trust). That's all I can say. Tep has made it clear that no consideration is made for this. NC and TC have lived with it for ages and we certainly will too.
With respect,

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
The most common word through all this is Bonus......
When I was a guild member the best thing relics did for us was attract and tempt others to come and raid. That gave us the best excuse to dole out some serious butt whoopin. Which with any of our allies we did most effectively.
How we shared bonus, is when we organized raids. If our allies were along with us, vise versa, we shared the spoils of war. We looted they looted evenly. We never ever raided each other cradle out of simple respect, loyalty and allied friendship. We did however, show up at each other's cradle to help defend when threatened.
We pitied anyone from our faction who went rouge to our allies by raiding them. To tempt the establish trusted between our two factions, made them a fast enemy so that they were eventually were driven out from their own home faction.
You want relics for bonus and do not wish to tempt fate. Watch TC and NC how they work together. How they share the spoils of war, how the come to each other's aid. Sometimes one or the other have all the relics, other times they have a few each.
If you want to make relics strictly a bonus game then be prepared to pay the price. If you chose to work the relic for what the stand for then be prepared to make friend and allies.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
here it is in simple terms for ppl like me. want to help your ally? say hey i have your relic and I'm gonna drop it wherever and would you place it in your cradle. To not make friends or cut your allies off of any relic bonus go raid them like AO has done in the past and see where it leads you. have funThank you Tep. Still question 3 remains unclear. Trusek's character (of AO) was unable to drop the RK relic in their cradle. Is this Intentional or Bugged?

I returned NC relic with my TC char many times. It always worked (at least since it was made possible

To Glow: Sorry if I offended you by saying you were greedy, didn't mean to say you were, just wanted to explain my point.

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
Glow has excellent points here. The system of bonuses for helping your allied faction out made sense. What alliance would hold up if said allies won't share the most powerful artifacts in the land.
As for question 3, it used to be that you couldn't return your allies relic for them. That was implemented only recently, and then I'm assuming it was removed with the wipe.
Personally I don't care. I do agree that it made sense that allies would be trying to help each other out as far as relics went. If you don't cooperate over the most powerful artifacts in the land, then what are alliances for? Logically speaking how would those alliances hold up? As far as the game goes apart from the storyline itself, virtually all of the pvp is centered around the relics anyway, so if you want to continue this pattern it should either be that alliances help each other out, or there are no alliances. Seriously, what's the point of an alliance if all it means is that you can travel through each other's territory without having to worry about their NPC's attacking you? I thought the relic sharing was a nice touch on the system.
If it isn't going to return, then that's fine too. However, I think Glow had some valid points that were discounted out of hand, or rudely made fun of. I really liked the LA cheapshots, wth does that have to do with anything?

Re: Xp sharing among allied factions
'Tep, you're free to do so. It's not our module, we just play here. We really have no say in what occurs as far as the relics go.
I'm not whining or complaining about the relics and to be honest I could care less whether there's a bonus or not; as NC wasn't really a superpower until recently, bonuses for CLAD and the NC in the first year of guildhood were rare, if not unheard of.
What does concern me is my apparent decline in mental cohesiveness, as I could have sworn that just prior to the relic competition that I logged in and got the message "Our sacred relic is in Melencia" and was still getting a 10% bonus. The reason I noticed this, other than the obvious "W00t, bonus!" reasons was that I was used to seeing the "Our sacred relic is in the hands of the enemy! Assault them and recover it!" message if the relic is out of the cradle.
So, I guess it's one thing to say this was a failed experament like the Riftwell Portals, and will not be re-implemented following the 1.69 patch, which I am fine with, by the way. It's entirely different when you say that it never happened. If it really didn't, then maybe I should question my sanity and not play so much?
Can anyone back me up on this, or am I totally smoking crack?
Help! I'm scared and confused!
