Re: pure ranger idea
Any chance of adding uncanny dodge to either a pure ranger token or the Harper Scout class?
Mleh! Now I'm upside down......
Re: pure ranger idea
Not sure if you can add Uncanny Dodge, but its a broken feat that isn't really worth much anyway.

I'd like to see some of these for a pure ranger:

Bonus to spot/true seeing in outdoor settings (+10 to spot or true seeing)
AC Bonus of +1 (Dodge) in outdoor settings at 20,25,30,35 and 40 (Maximum of +5 Dodge AC)
Summoned Animal Companion at 21 (Neutrals - King Penguin with 1d6 Sneak per 5 ranger levels, Evil - Malar Panther with Regen +1 per 5 ranger levels, Good - Blink Dog with DR 1/- per 5 ranger levels)
Epic Magic Fang 1/day - Gives your summoned creature/animal companion +1AB and +1 Magic damage per 5 ranger levels, +1 STR,DEX,CON per 5 ranger levels (duration 1 round/level)

Re: pure ranger idea
those bonuses sound rather....weak.
compare that to pure barb, pure fighter, pure pally...no one would play pure ranger cept for pride purposes
rangers deserve amazing thigns in the wilderness....specially since not much action goes on in wilderness areas (which are basically just roads to places where fighting actually occurs)...and then good things everywhere else too. I wouldnt be happy at all with an animal companion unless it was as powerful as a black devil++

The bonuses intended are fairly powerful, its a matter of finding the time to enter them in. I might spend some time trimming here and there for the next dev who wants to tackle em.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

Re: pure ranger idea
I like most of the ideas Ive heard. I wont critique them, I think thats dev job to listen to everyone and take what they like and change how it pleases them. I do have a few suggestions of my own though. Pure fighters are pretty strong, pure barbarians the same, and pure paladins are insane (we wont go into that here). Pure rangers should match the level of power as the others.
Already Rangers get increased speed, improved evasion, HiPS, and outdoor areas explored. I think that the "outdoors" should be expanded to natural terrain. By natural terrain I mean anything not manufactured. This would include underground (since 3.5 Rangers I believe are the only to receive Knowledge (dungeoneering)) this would represent them well. This would mean a ranger would run into a power down when they try to raid, or enter any building... or other such area like that. Once outside the manufactured areas they thrive.
Most of the other pure bonuses build off the idea of what the character already does. Rangers in NWN are two-weapon fighters only. To try and keep things from being too complex, why not build off that.
AC bonuses for TWF... extra attacks if possible.
Their Vampric Blade increasing in power.
Tracking is what rangers are supposed to do, so trying to implement something like that would be really nice.
Extra AB/AC/Damage for Favored Enemies.
Keeping it to what rangers do would be mainly enhancing Two-Weapon, Favored Enemy, and Tracking... anything else would just be extra stuff to help balance.

Re: pure ranger idea
The reference made about the outdoors really just being a connecting run between 2 places where things happen is a good description. It made me think about how a lot of the shifters use panther form when traveling from area to area, and how that makes them rather vulnerable. (personally, that is my favorite time to catch a shifter
) Perhaps rangers could have the ability to see all natural maps (or whatever is choosen), as well as he ability to track someone's path (if even possible, or maybe track a relic's path
), as well as a great speed increase in those outdoor travel areas. This would expand their in-game role without falling into the 'just another pure warrior class' trap. Give em lvl 30 monk speed cap and make em the guys who can run down a relic or escape with one (maybe remove this speed boost while a relic is carried?)

Re: pure ranger idea
Not that it has anything to do with this topic, but I should mention that the Ranger's Improved Evasion is applied via creature skin (and not a native feat via leto), so it won't count as a prerequisite for anything (like Epic Dodge).
