Summons Guide

Post by Zing »

Guide to the Summons system in NS4.

Basics:
-The summons on this server are handled in two different ways:
-Undead summon levels and bonuses according to the power of the caster.
-Non-Undead summons have fixed avatars which will receive bonuses according to the power of the caster.
-Summons will vary according to the subrace, alignment, feats and level of the caster.
-Bonuses are NOT applied when summon spells are cast during combat.
-At the present time Black Blade of Disaster is DISABLED.

Summon Duration:
-This is based on the casters power.
-Appropriate Spell Metamagic will double the duration.

Basic Bonuses:
-Non-Undead summons that are of significantly lower level to the caster of the spells (ie a high level mage casting a low level summon spell) will receive a bonus to their hit points.

Advanced Bonuses:
(Summon spells cast from scrolls or other items in the game will NOT get the advanced bonuses listed below.)

-Summon types (Summon spells I-IX) and planar summons will receive stat bonuses for spell focus, greater spell focus and epic spell focus of Conjuration.
-Monster summons receive a stat bonus when cast by a Cleric, Druid or Ranger with the Animal Domain Power feat.
-Planar summons receive a stat bonus for the following subraces. Aasimar, Tiefling, Githzerai, Air Genasi, Earth Genasi, Fire Genasi and Water Genasi.
-Planar summons will receive a stat bonus when cast by a Cleric with either Good or Evil Domain Power feats.
-Undead summons receive a stat bonus when cast by a Cleric with the Death Domain Power feat.
-Undead summons receive an increasing stat bonus when cast by Palemasters, the following PM levels trigger an increase. 1, 5, 10, 16.
-Undead summons receive an increasing stat bonus when cast by Blackguards, the following BG levels trigger an increase. 1, 5, 10.
-Undead summons will receive bonuses for spell focus, greater spell focus and epic spell focus of Necromancy.

Summon Weapons:
-Undead summons receive creature weapons appropriate their level once the power of the caster has been determined. There are 7 weapon sets for an Undead summon which are applied in a linear fashion starting from level 1 with the most powerful being received at level 35.
-Non-Undead summons weapons are fixed.

Undead Levelling System:
-Summon level is approximately based on the level of the caster, but most lower level spells are capped (ie have a maximum level).
-Bonus levels are received by epic shadowdancers for Summon Shadow and the Create Undead ability.
-Bonus levels are given to Palemasters for Wizard, Sorcerer or Bard levels when using Animate Dead, Summon Dead & Summon Greater Undead if the spell would otherwise be weak.
-Blackguard levels automatically generate bonus levels for Fiendish Servants and increasing bonuses for the Fiend with BG levels and the Epic BG & Epic Fiend feats.

Legendary Summons
-Mummy Dust has no level cap (Max level 40)

-Blackguards who invest extremely as described above in their Fiendish Servant will ultimately command a Doom Knight and a Black Devil.

-With focus in necromancy and 20 levels in the arts of a Palemaster a Master Lich can be called from the depths to serve. Creatures willing to sacrifice thier souls to this black science for an additional 10 PM levels (i.e. 30 PM) can draw upon their greater focus in necro to create the most powerful summons in Aetheria!
Talos - God of Rebellion.
