can anyone tell me if the black devil gains lvls after 22 lvls of BG to get it like the doom knight did or just stays the same?

Its 22 lvls of BG get you a black devil I know I have it but im wondering if it gets more powerful after you take more lvls like the Doom knight and other summons did

Currently, the BG summon maxes at 22 BG levels... assuming you have the epic fiendish servant feat.

Well I should note the base summon itself maxes once you get the black devil, but you can improve it a bit with spell focus necromancy feats and cleric death domain feats.

so the black devil will not improve if you take 30 bg levels as apposed to 22?

will that ever change? seems your investing more time in the summon if you take 8 more levels, and you should get something out of it. kinda like the pm summon. only bg isnt as cool a class as pm and doesnt have as many benifits, so technicly speaking its summon should be better, or the class should be tweaked a bit.

do bg's have access to divine shield/divine might? they should if they dont. then atleast you could use the argument that they are paladins counter parts. course pure pali's get all those neat 1 use things.

but i diegress.

As to whether or not the BGs will improve in general... I'm pretty sure they will... I'd like to give them some love...

from what Mamba told me in testing out his BG(30) devil.... There are 2 spells that get resisted a LOT better by the devil with 30 lvls, and the cap is easy to hit -- does taking the 8 lvls beyond 22 raise the devil to equal lvls to someone who took the focuses+cleric domain(s)?

What I would love to see is the 'Angel of Death' that was supposed to be a special BG(30) summon -- ie: an undead, black-cloaked human with black wings and a scythe with sick AB and AC that fights as aggessively as the devil.

It would be a nice compensation for not; cheese-topping the build off with, say a tumble class, or squeezing in lots of caster lvls around the 22 bg lvls...

so i guess the best BG summon is a black devil with epic spell focus and them cleric death domain feats?

its odd ive got a frend with a cleric BG who has no focuses necro but the death and evil domain feats and his black devil is much worce than mine so the cleric domains cant do alot

Each spell focus feat in necromancy gives:

+2 Str/dex/con
+2 AC
+2 AB
+4 vs. Turning

This is for all undead summons btw.

Death domain only gives an extra +1 to these stats (except vs. turning which it gives +2).
