MA job help

Post by heresy »

this is a reflections story

i killed all the wizard constructs and nothing happened
i went back to captain garth and he gave me the job again
i killed all the wizard constructs and nothing happpened
i went back to captain garth and he gave me the job yet again
i killed all the wizard constructs and again nothing
the captain gave me the job again
i decided the job was somehow broken for my character, deleted him and made a new one

i killed all the wizard constructs (by "i" i mean my summon)
i rested, i wandered around inside for a few minutes to make sure they were all gone, i waited by the entrance and got up and went to the bathroom.
the wizard that made the constructs never showed up.
i went to captain garth and he gave me the job again

i've done this job just fine on prime in the past
what the heck is the problem and can a DM help?
or do i have to make another character and hope it works this time or give up on the jobs?

this job gets jammed sometimes and the wizard does not pop. I've been through exactly what happened to you. the way to beat it without ripping your own eyes out in frustration is this:

go in and do the mission. if the wizard does not appear DO NOT LEAVE. log out while inside the mission, log back in. the entire mission resets (time of day does not matter it always resets). kill everything again. Lather, Rinse, Repeat this process until the wizard appears.

I've had to do it 5, 6 times in a row to get him to pop on more than one occasion. You can also try contacting a dm if this happens to you but this is a decent last resort if you cant find one.

After you kill the last construct, you'll get a message in your journal that the job is completed. If you don't get this message, check to be absolutely sure that you killed all the constructs (there are a number of places where they can get stuck in the map). Try resting in different spots to make sure no enemies are near as a way of finding the constructs. Finally, if you do try the job again, wait until after a reset.

perhaps the killing blow on the last construct needs to be by your own hand? i personally have never had a problem with this job...i usually go lvl up somewhere and come back later all beefy and stuff.

from my experience none of this helps. I've crawled over every inch of the map looking for constructs and have not found any (including the rest trick to see if there were enemies nearby anywhere... no dice). waiting for a reset does not help. no message appears in your combat log.

the only way I have found to get past this is to repeat the mission until it kicks itself clear (and the logout/login trick only helps you do this without waiting for another day/night cycle). it might take 2 tries. it might take 6.

i've done this job with casters and with straight up melee types, it does not appear to matter how you kill the last construct. I've also done it at a variety of levels, late in life, early in life etc. and it's a crapshoot as to whether the job will complete on the first pull (it has actually completed on the first pull for one of my toons, a bard.)

I have run into this problem several times. What worked for me was to go out after the constructs were destroyed then go back in (just have to make sure you are still in the same time frame necessary to complete the job), kill all the constructs a second time, and then the wizard appeared.

i'm not sure how this quest is coded but i'm guessing that there's a secret inaccessible room somewhere (perhaps where the wizard is kept until you finish the quest?) that sometimes has a construct spawned in it. so if you're unlucky your spawn gets you a construct in this hidden place and you are hosed.

thus recycling the quest over and over until you get a "good" spawn is the way out.
