Post by Twiggy »

Well you really just gotta figure out what spells you like. For example you want a nasty finger of death focus necro, you crazy about stone hold focus conjuration, if you like your summons focus conjuration.

Just stuff like that, however I'm not sure if focusing evocation helps the stuff like lighning storm, ice storm etc.

Conjuration, Evocation, and Transmutation are the ones to look at.

I wouldn't suggest making a caster druid though.

Hamper Movement works well, but after that all you have are buffs and direct dmg.

I talk a lot about how mages have it bad in epic, druids have it even worse.

You can sort of make one in that the path to a dragonshape is basically 27 levels of 'casting' druid. The spells are still half handy, like casting Storm before shifting, and deshifting and giving a parting finger at a player who's running away.

and yes, the two foci that are sensible for a druid are conj for stonehold and necro for finger and harm. then when you get to epic you can either take Mummy Dust to capitalise on necro focus or Dragon Knight to capitalise on conj focus.

note that druids are actually now some of the best summoners. between bulls strength, aura of vitality, awaken and greater magic fang you can pretty much max your summon's stats and get its AB through the roof without needing any focus feats at all.

if u necro focus fully u will pwn.....

cong / necro is best bet.... and for sure stay pure.

mummy dust will scale with level and DK will also scale hp wise.

with grease, sov, and vm + direct damage u will have a real goo shot.

at level 33 I can solo the lower elemental planes. I can take fire and air boss without shifting to DS.

Also if ur going to be focusing that much in your summons.... get zen archery. that way u can have buffs, crowd controll, and still have damage to pump out once ur spells are done.

also DoTs ( damage over time) are crucial. Knowing when to place another sov, creeping doom, wall of fire is esential especially with the insane amt of hp on mummy dust u don't need to really focus on worrying about ur summons health cause u also get harm as well.

bigest downfall is going to be haste and ii.

I recommend rouges mantle and some form of temp haste item so it can get u out of trouble fast.

pm me for more details.

I agree with Havok. My "Caster Druid" turned Shifter out of necesity in the mid 30's. Focuses in Conj and Necro helped get her there. The spells are great help for parties but once you hit the planes you become a sitting duck for planar creatures. Taking Dragon Form lets you tough it out in the worst of situations while still giving you the ammo to cast enough spells before shifting.
