Earth Genasi Ability

The ability at level 10 is great with the DR, however when the DR runs out (which doesn't take long) it takes the AC with it. It's almost preferable to have only the AC since the AC sticks around for a much longer time than the DR + AC.
Is the DR meant to run out like it does?
Does this still happen with the ability at level 30 and 40?

yes the AC collapses when the DR runs out at all levels, at higher levels you will find it very effective, especially at lvl 30 and even moreso at lvl 40...it has saved my butt a few times :wink:

i prefer the ac/dr combo as is......

I tend to hold the buff until needed because of the chance for it to wear off. If I notice that I am starting to take damage then I put it up and it is the AC/DR Combo that saves my hide. Other races get just an AC bonus so perhaps one of them would be more suitable for what you are looking for.

How much damage does it absorb at 30 nd 40? (300 points total? 400?)
Does the amount scale with each level or is it set at those two levels?

imo i think the earth gen feature is better then epic warding.. i had a earth gen PM who took epic warding and i wish that i wouldnt of... although being able to target your summon with the earth gen token and then using epic warding was alright sometimes....earth gen duration is much longer though.... and the nat AC from the EG token is vn...


anyhow just my 1.5 cents

Doesn't bug me, but thats because Earth Genasi isn't allowed in RK :twisted: . We sacrifice races like that, half-ogres, etc. Its nice to know that they'll be evened out, used to see a TON of people playing Earth Genasi when I asked what race. Now that I think about it, I still do....

lol, a nerf bat... I doubt the proverbial "nerf bat" will have much of an effect on a defensive AC/DR combo. We'll need a +20 sledgehammer at the least.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

here we go again , it seems that every time someone (jester in this case) asks a fair, honest question, someone HAS to bring up a "nerf" suggestion... we must not allow ourselves to be corrupeted with this Chase-ism..... else we will all be wearing -1AC armor and +2 sticks :twisted:

Actually, right after the server wipe I saw a lot of players try out Earth Genasi builds. (Myself included) I have never played one since then because it was not as good as it seemed. I have seen other builds make better use of the Earth Genasi bonuses but they have to sacrifice alot just for a little AC/DR. You really can't make an effective Earth Genasi AC build due to it's lack of Dex and without a high AC you just end up losing your AC due to the damage you soak with the DR. It seems to be balanced.
