Wail of Banshee

Post by Daltian »

Today I noticed that Wail of Banshee started to act funny. First time i cast it on a group of mobs it works ok. But all consecutive casts usually have no effect. Does banshee make them deaf for a while?

If an enemy makes the save against a Wail of the Banshee, they temporarily go deaf for about 20 seconds or so.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

Does this affect spellcasting? :)

No, you can still talk while deaf. You just don't have a listen check. Maybe not a spellcraft bonus, either, since you can't hear what spells the enemy is chanting.

Does that mean that silent spells couldn't be counter'd because the Counter caster couldn't identify the spell with spellcraft?

Not sure. It's possible. I guess more likely is a penalty to the spellcraft against silent spells, or when deaf.

wail is a save vs the scream of the banshee... if you save the fort, you go deaf, thus cannot hear the other wails u toss at it. simple

i believe you suffer a small amount of spell failure for verbal spells while deaf.
i have no idea if it's implemented, but surely if you're deaf you'd be unable to identify spells without a somatic component to look at - so stilled ones, not silent ones.
