Post by mgrjebbo »

Is the damage on great smite capped at all or am i correct in assuming its x2 for every feat you sink into it?

as i have been told each feat gives you x2 so i was wondering if the damage is capped or can i really achive 800 bonus damage with great smite 10 at level 40?

From what I read:

Whenever the character makes a successful smite attack, it add 2x the characters level to damage. This feat may be taken multiple times, to a maximum of 10x

to bust it down into a table it would be

GS1=X2
GS2=X4
GS3=X6
GS4=X8
GS5=X10
GS6=X12
GS7=X14
GS8=X16
GS9=X18
GS10=X20

now if its capped at x10 then wouldnt one be wasting feats after GS5?

if i am not wrong that should be the progression of the feat as i read it.

Did you use a trainer? I am not sure there even is a Great Smite VI-X if there is then, some part of the documentation is wrong only testing will verify which part.

Ok, here's how Smite Works:

For every level in Paladin and/or CoT you have, your smite deals extra damage equal to those levels against evil target.

IE: A level 40 Paladin adds 40 damage against evil targets when he uses Smite Evil.

If a level 40 Paladin has Great Smite I (One), he adds an additions 40 damage against evil Targets when he uses Smite Evil, for a total of 80 extra damage.

If a level 40 Paladin has Great Smite III, he adds 40 * 3 + 40 damage to his Smite Evil, because he is level 40, and has taken the feat three times.

If a level 40 Paladin has Great Smite VIII "8", he adds 40 * 8(320) damage to his Smite Evil, meaning his Smite Evil deals an extra 360 (40 base + 320 from feats)damage against evil Target.

So, a level 40 Paladin with Great Smite X deals an extra 40 * 10 + 40 (440)damage against evil targets when he uses Smite Evil.

Use a Rapier or Scimitar to insure the highest rate of Critical attacks for your Smite Good or Evil.
Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

yes, it goes to 10 and your lvls get multiplied by every feat you take.

1=x1
2=x2
3=x3
4=x4
5=x5...and so on.

crit range makes you hit smite's hard as does th multiplier. greatswords and warhammers do alot.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.

aye but since most mobs are neutral it wont matter against them and all palemasters have crit immunity then its worthless against them to focus on crits. however for casters that want balors they could come in handy but then again 400 damage is more than enough to kill them anyway.
