LOss of LEVELS! on crash last night

Post by YukonCornelious »

I don't really know why I'm posting this here as I had no DM respond last night, Which is ok. But I had a really disappointing and bitter reply from the community. I really don't apperciate the lack of respect I got as a retart to my quary last night almost all I don't care replies and stop crying. When all I asked was why did this happen!!!!. I have to say this poor attitude has really given me second thoughts about this server group. Anyway

I had lost four levels last night from a server crash. I had been playing for about 4 hours.

from the crash my toon went from level 4 almost five to level 0. and lost all gear I had gotten.

I saved alot before the crash, I would say at least 12 times. Why did this crash almost take me back to character creation point and will it happen again???

And for all you people last night NICE attitude!!!

well most are jaded as we all hear this complaint alot from new people

the DM staff WILL NOT replace lost xp so there is little you can do but start over and deal with it.

as for the replys you got from the others

You know there is such a thing as manners, I know not to common any more.

The reply just deal with it, is kinda poor in my opinion.

How about having the DM post a sticky saying they are unwilling to correct level issues. THIS WOULD BE EASY TO POINT PLAYERS TO AND THEN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE SOOOOOO DEFENSIVE!

You know all most people exspect is a little respect. Try it sometime......

I've been playing this silly game for over 3 years now and you know most players could stand to be a bit more kind.

There are alot of new player all the time, try helping. and not being crass about it.

Your attitude on Shout was very demanding. Consider how long it would take for a single person to even attempt to recompense 40 seperate people.

There were two of us Lasdt night that I know of that lost levels and I did two shouts.

Quote:
The first was " Is there a DM on PLZ I have lost 4 levels is tthe crash :("

and the second was a response to some one askiing if I wanted chesse with my wine.

Quote
"Yes PLZ"

How is this demanding I really don't understand and yes I was upset would you not be after you lost that meny levels and got no reply from a DM and POOR attitudes from the community???

You all sound so defensive when all you really need is to appreciate that a little help goes a LONG way!

I apologize for the barbaric manner of some players here on NS (if you didn't know, Cthulhu is an evil cultist). However, DMs are unable to replace lost xp/gear because this would be exploitable. You wouldn't be able to tell wether they really had lost it, or never had it in the first place.

However, if you lost your first 4/5 levels, imagine how everyone else must have felt. All the old school players would have known that their xp was not to be re-compensated, and they must have lost some xp in a crash like that. I've experienced it myself. That would be enough to put.

And remember, this is a PvP server. A lot of folks here will be willing to help you out, but you also must remember that we have our share of people that would be just as willing to bash your head in.

Thank You for your informative and approperiate response. I did not understand everyone was subject to the same level loss. No one bothered to explain this before. So I was under the assumption that only a few of us were subject to the level loss for what ever reason. If this was explained to me up front that this had happened to everyone I would have never given it a second thought.

THANK YOU again!!!!

I think you did several shouts, including one that had several people reacting to your use of language.... cussing on shout is not allowed and is a kickable offense.

get over it.

the only TRUE way to guarentee that your toons progress will be saved is to LOG OFF AND ON occasionally, say every half hour to hour depending on how paranoid you are....

i have posted many suggestions in a few threads in the past as have other ppl, but i dont feel like linking them atm... :)

Okay, this thread is going nowhere.

Unfortunately, we can't replace losses due to crashes. Bites, we've all been hit by it before, but that's just the way it is. Work at it, find a nice party, and you'll get that stuff back before you know it. :)
