Any advise on combinations of classes / races / feats etc that work well here would be much appreciated thankyou.
A Good Melee build
A Good Melee build
Hi again guys being farely new here, i want to make a nice melee build with decent ab and ac - for mobs only not interested in pvp at all at this stage - just to learn the server
Any advise on combinations of classes / races / feats etc that work well here would be much appreciated thankyou.

The best way to learn the server is to take a tank and explore.
I say go pure barbarian. give yourself enough intelligence to afford some listen for the few HIPSing/hiding monsters. Dont worry about which weapon to choose, because (while some are better than others) they are almost all represented very well here.

Cleric with a bit of fighter for some extra feats --- OR even a pure cleric ( travel-war domains) is always a good all purpose character and also nice for exploring / gear gathering -- and you get a nice speed kick

Yup, a cleric type is okay for exploring. A decent hipser can work too in most of the lower level areas, it'll just take longer as you move more slowly through them.
And since you seem to be in one of the best guilds on the server, you'll have plenty of guild members who know the server well who can help you learn some of the more obscure areas.

LOL I agree 100% with Yoda.. IF you're also new to NWN, since clerics can be quite a learning experience knowing which domains to take, which spells to slot and use etc...monks are a whole lot easier and quicker.MasterYoda wrote:When it comes to exporing a new server I usually go monk.
U get speed and stunning fists.
There are some pretty decent kamas and the high ac will help in early stages
My first epic toon since I came back to ns4 (last summer) was J'ain... I took Monk and a SD level so I could run around the whole world quick (USED to be a lot quicker when the LA token gave me DM speed - which I'll have you know I -never- ab/used for PvP or relic stealing) the monk/sd combo is great for ease of use and the ability to LIVE to explore and you don't have to spend half your time resting and rebuffing nor do you have to worry about defensive and offensive spells.

I felt like an idiot when i tried to cast them out of a radial menu and felt even dumber when i found the spell book
hehe... i did that once with my first cleric as well, and i was all over shout trying to figure out why i had no spells past lvl 5....

That is why I suggested Barabarian. It was what I used as m first character. It is good to explore because you basically just hack & slash through everything. add in +10% movement that stacks with LA messenger token (everyone should start in LA; that is what LA was meant for), and you have faster movememnt than haste.Celorn wrote:IF you're also new to NWN, since clerics can be quite a learning experience knowing which domains to take, which spells to slot and use etc...monks are a whole lot easier and quicker.
As for Fricebottles comment about dieing tring to get to avendell.... I canget a level 1 barbarian to avendell without dieing. I can also level to 2 without dieing. Their uber-AB/HP make them ideal for soloing at early levels, and add some buffs and they are perfect tanks through the rest of the game.
