Monk Tailor problem

Post by Go'f »

Yes crafting again :D This is my first crafter and in all likelihood it's just something I am doing wrong.

I have a monk who I am training up to be a master of the tailoring Arts.

Details I think could be relavent
  • Class= Monk 21/ Fighter 4
    Craft = Tailor
    Current Crafting level=Journeymen (Level 2)
    Crafting xp =1083
    Time spent at current rank = 24 hours (I watched time limit messages count down from 23 hours and they stopped about 20 minutes ago)
    Station being used to "level"=Menzo Clothing
Suggestions from other players to what the problem could be
  • Use another station (I will be trying Avendale then Monestary as soon as I can)
    Get more XP (but the signs say I am OK)
    Wait longer (but the signs say I am OK)
    Monk crafting is still bust: you cant progress (please don't let this be the case)
There is multiple entries saying monk crafting fixed in change log - :D If it was fixed the first time what are all the other enties about, and if it wasnt fixed the first time how can i trust it was fixed on any previous entry :D

I believe the best answer I have been given is "Try another station"... which leads to a suggestion for when/if crafting is reworked: have each crafting station tell you its maximum craft rank when you first chat with it (to take the guess work out of it).

monk crafting is good. I have an MA monk tailor (though he is single class, not multi)

yup, it's the station. You can use the Menzo station to get enough points to get to MA, but the faction cities mainly go up to Master Crasftsman. The Apprentice items give the most experience regardless of your level. To make MA items, go to *shhhh* -TGPO.

I've never understood the crafting secrecy on the server -- no real lists, no real location breakdowns -- sure it's not a gov't secret, but it doesn't make stuff better to be crafted by ninjas :).

One of the reasons I made crafters is to learn what can be made. I can MA stuff for everything but Fletching and Exotic now. It's a shame that the crafted weapons and armor aren't really all that good (in fact, few of the crafted items are really worth the effort).

Testing that crafting in the monestarty gave me the same message "you need to craft more" until I got to about 1500xp, I dont know exactly how much cause it set my XP back the l0 when it leveled me, to third... I suspect I can continue using Menzo and or Avendale for a while yet as Level 3 is still crappy +3 kit.

Agreed Elagneros, the Bikini Bottom crew has a sweat shop of master artisans of their own. Barnacle Boy made me a master artisan and guess what? Its level 20 while its not even as good as the level 16 Pirahna's Tooth (in my opinion). Its better in some ways, but its massive criticals is 1d6, no acid bonus (but its got a slashing bonus instead). The only thing better really is that its one better in enhancement bonus. It takes months to make a master artisan, and a few minutes to go down to Sunken to get a Pirahna's Tooth. Sorry for sounding negative, but I'm kinda disappointed. I'd really like the Devs to improve the master artisan equipment (gloves are pretty good from monk, but thats about the only MA equipment boots I use except for the shadowdancing MA ones).

Don't really take months to level a good MA crafter, in the cases of the weapons and armor, a fighter with the right gear can get decent XP solo in the gnolls. I don't think it took me more than a month to build a MA martial crafter.

Yes crafting again This is my first crafter and I can't get my head around it

I have a monk who I am training up to be a master of the tailoring Arts.

Details I think could be relavent

Class= Monk 21/ Fighter 4
Craft = Tailor
Current Crafting level=Master Crafter(Level 2)
Crafting xp =8083
Time spent at current rank = 2 days (ish)
Stations tried to "level"=Monastery, Li'norarla,Avendale (i was desperate ok)

Error message "you find it invreasingly more difficult to..." blah blah blah

Fact : A level 21 monk achieved MA around 2 weeks ago in Tailoring

OK I had a look at the code and I think you may have hit the limit.

At "Tailoring" level 4 (Master Craftsman) check
ROGUE + RANGER + BARD + DRUID levels must = 14 or over as far as I can see to pass (ie get to next level)

Other devs? Am I missing a back-door in the code here that can get a monk past that check (ts_pc_skill_info ln 178)

*Disclaimer: I know nothing about the crafting system so maybe these checks change between stations?
