GMT For the learning

Post by Kromix »

For anyone that needs to learn the Greenwich Mean Time format...

GMT+- format

learn at http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

basically it works like this...

i live in USA west coast, in Cali... so i have GMT-8 (note the minus)

this is the map with australia's EST/CST/WST http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/australia/

now you live in AUS EST which is GMT+10 (note the plus)

SO by setting the time just say... lets do this at this time:

e.g. 15:00 GMT (3PM on GMT)

for australian time just add 10 hours, for California time just substract 8 hours...

so to 15:00 GMT = 01:00 Australia EST = 07:00 USA PST

so to figure out GMT from your time, all you have to do is reverse the equation... take your time, then substract 10 hours if in AUS EST, or add 8 if in USA PST...

ive seen some post where people cannot figure out or coordinate events... hope this helps..

another option would be to put a 'java'-clock on THIS page, in the header somewhere (Neopets does this and it works quite well) with 'Neversummer time' that could help even more, then you just have to make a post stating the date and time in NS4 time and all will be clear to all players around the world...

but as you should know GMT is the standarized time on the world... just find your position to it on the 1st link on the post to see what modifier you live on... and thus using a standard world wide known format...
