Attacks per round

Recently, in a battle with Yuan-ti above the Bottomless Pit, I noticed that after I fired a crossbow bolt, the sorceress would fireball me.

As I have 4 attacks per round, was wondering why I was only firing one.
Or, was she throwing 4 fireballs a round?

It's a heavy crossbow, is that maybe the reason?

Does the att/round only apply to melee weapons?

Am I missing a feat, maybe?

This same thing has happened in other battles. They get off a spell after every bolt, but when I close in with a sword, I whack the right number of times.

You should count yourself lucky. In PnP D&D you can only fire a Heavy Crossbow every other round without Rapid Reload feats. I believe all crossbows fire once a round in NWN. Try a sling or bow to see if you get your full attacks then.

yep need the feat to gain all atts/round with a crossbow.

Try it out in the real life, first a bow than a crossbow, you'll notice yourself it isn't as fast and as easy than using a bow

Crossbows get only one attack per round alone. This can be increased with effects that add additional attacks (such as haste). The Rapid Reload feat gives you one additional attack.

Thanks, that clears it up, and the bow gets the correct number of attacks.
