Hide
Over the last few days I noticed some weird quirks while trying to hide. I noticed this mainly in amazon and in Menzo. When using my SD I was trying the ol hit and run but I notice that some monsters will apparently see me, i do not come out of stealth nor see the "you have been spotted" they just walk over and start wailing on me which is a bummer since you dont know they see you until the pummeling begins

yah.. i noticed that too.. think it's just the amazon drervishes that do that, makes you stay alert and pay attention a bit more. It's a flashback to the Polar bears that could see you invisible or HiPS'd...possibly a similar coding flaw/bug?
And yes, it doesn't say you've been spotted -- it's more like when you walk close enough to a mob that they can see 'something' ..just like PCs can..perhaps the dervishes have an expanded field of that type of proximity hidden/invisible-seeing?

Whichever way you are detected, you will not be told of said detection. Let's try to rationalize it... a crafty spotter who is staying alert will see someone sneaking around, but that person sneaking around won't necessarily know they have been seen.
So you may ask about the message "you have been detected" ... well that is to prevent immediate spam of HiPS ... and does not necessarily correlate with any search check.

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
