will my character be saved after beta is over? will lose him once you update?

There will be a wipe at the end of beta, so yes.
Nothing to really worry about though considering beta isn't going to be over anytime soon.

char. transfer

will be able to transfer chars. from 3.5 to 4? if not i am not going to play until the beta is over.

With the gear and ease of leveling being so different, I'd say no.
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

Yeah, but playing the beta allows for scouting out the areas and figuring out what the best places are for leveling different types of characters.

The people that play during beta are going to have an advantage over those that don't.

The world is a fun one. Give it a shot. We've already had one wipe. But, I save my characters to my local vault perodically, so I can always still use them in other modules later on. Granted, some of the abilities don't work... But, oh well.
