New to NWN (kind of)

Hi all! I had the game when it first released, but due to RL reasons, I never really got into it. I would love to try this server but everytime I log in it says "Server version and Client version do not match.

I am using "neversummer.nsrealm.com" from the direct connect screen. I am putting nothing in the Player Password field (Do I need to?)

I am running the Platinum Version and have updated using the NWN update window.

Any ideas? Sorry for being a total noob

umm, it sounds like you're using a different patch version than NS4 is. I'm not really qualified to answer this question, but that would be my guess.

Platinum can't play with non-platinum servers at this time. You'll have to wait for 1.64 to play. The rest of us are on patch 1.62 and you're on 1.63. Installing the 1.62 patch on your install will likely break the game, so you're out of luck until 1.64.

You can try the critical rebuild to 1.62. This worked for a friend of mine, but there may be consequences (like re-installing the game) when 1.64 is finalized

If you use the critical rebuild, you won't be able to play at all, since platinum won't run(i'll get a message about inserting the correct dvd).
ofc, a no-cd path will fix that....

Ah, yes, sorry about that. My roommate, after doing the critical rebuild, has to use my NWN CD to start the game. After starting it, he does not require the CD anymore.

i just wanted to know i downloaded the stupid patch never even checking the forums but wen is it going to be compatable to the new patch that just came out sorry to nag just curious

If you hit the update that means your running ver. 1.64 right now, Platinum was shipped as ver. 1.63 and for the moment the servers are running ver. 1.62.

This may seem a bit odd, but to clear part of it up Platinum was assigned 1.63 and according to the latest bioware intel patch 1.64 was supposed to be released prior to it's shipping. On the plus side it shouldnt take very long at all for the servers to be patched to 1.64.

Until then a quick and ugly fix would be to download the 1.62 NoCD crack, use the critical rebuild, then when the servers go to 1.64 re install platinum from scratch. Seems to me to be a lot of work for just a day or two wait though.
