new player needs help

Post by hoodspa »

I just started in Neversummer the other day. I think it’s great so far but I think I’m missing something. I can’t get any quests or jobs or generally anything to do. I’m a sorcerer for Shadow Legion and the commander tells me It’s not time yet and to be patient. Do I need to gain a level before I can get any kind of quest? I’ve been into all the buildings and tried talking to everyone other than guards. Having 5 hp it will be a tedious process killing rats to get 1000 xp.
I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to see more and more planets fall under the ruthless domination of our solar system.

yeah.. sucks to be a wizard a low levels..

the only facitons that have jobs are AO and LA... This is a beta after all..

your best bet is trying to find someone to team up with till your wizard can handle your own...

Wizards can solo fairly easy, so I'd imagine a Sorc could as well but obviously spell choice is much more cruical. I'd gotten my wizard solo to almost 8th after 2 days (AO faction - not doing the quest tho). Then again I've played on some HARD worlds (HCR, limited 8 hr rest, scarce healing, low magic, NASTY rez penalties, NPC rez only, etc). This is only my 3rd day on NS btw so maybe it gets hard soon. But anyway...

1) Buy an Xbow
2) Summon something
3) Let the Summon attack it while you shoot it full of holes.
4) Rinse and repeat.

Oh yes and start buffing your Summon once you gain a level or three. Eventually you get nukes and you can nuke stuff down then rest right away. But buffed summons are quite nasty and you probably get more kills per spell than your initial nukes.

Spell choice is fairly important I guess.

Oh yes and taking spell focus: Conjuration makes your pet slightly tougher. Not a lot at low levels, but it helps. You might also wish to re-rest if you summon a crap summons.

Taking points in Tumble never hurt! :)

Or maybe Shadow Legion is a hard place to start. I'll have to make an evil char and go check it out!
