Choosing a Subrace

Howdy, I remember reading somewhere before on how one becomes a subrace. I've searched the forums and am unable to find that particular post. I realize some of the info on this website is "missing" at the moment. Will anyone please tell me the steps needed to become a subrace? Do I build my character as an Elf, then once in the game get to choose Drow? Or do I build my character choosing the Subrace key and typing in "Drow" ? All help would be appreciated. Thank You!

When you first create a character you get a menu with configure subrace as an option. Use this to look at the different subraces and pick one.

You can also type the name of the subrace in the "Subrace" box after chosing your race, during the character build process.

Yep, I just typed "aasimar" into the subrace field in the NWN generation screen.

I had actually done the 'type into subrace field' thing before with a fire genasia (sp?). I tried doing this with both a Gold Dwarf and a Drow, both times when I entered the rift area my race was human.

Yep that doesnt work properly yet. Its better to choose the subrace after creation of the character.

The selected race over-rides anything in the sub-race box. If you ended up Human, it's because you forgot to select Race=Dwarf or Elf first. This prevents Drow Half Orcs, or Halfling Duergar. You also have to spell it the same way the database has it spelled.

The selection menu is the most reliable way of selecting your sub-race, but even that doesn't work if you forgot to click on the right race button.
