Greetings Lokey,
More full explanation of what you'd like to do. Perhaps NWN isn't the right medium to make it in first off
It’s already done… if I might explain…
A long time NWN single player builder, I spent four months last fall creating a Boss run for SharonaCurves, Queen of EternalDestiny.org. She is my mentor for online multi-player building and my friend.
During this time my sons and a couple of their old college buddies (that used to play in my PnP weekly games during their undergrad days) saw what I was building and wanted to be able to play it online. Busy with their lives and families, they asked me to set everything up.
So I bought 6 new copies of NWN Diamond, installed, updated and set it up on all their machines. This was the birth of the Fury Guild.
Next, I built a mod consisting of 3 unique obstacle courses to train all these noobies on the NWN interface; playing over LAN they learned how to run, move a PC around and interact with each other before they went online. We ended up having so much fun competing in the obstacle courses that it delayed our Internet presence by two weeks.
These obstacle courses are what believe could provide some good fun and competition between the Guilds and even members within the Guilds… who’s the best in all of Neversummer?!
Up to three PCs can run the course head to head or single competitors can compete against the clock for the best time.
Generally, I'm just against random user submissions.
This is genuinely surprising to me as most of the PWs I’ve seen welcome, if not recruit, creative new talent.
There's many and more gotchas and ways to break nwn than I can list here…
lol… yep… that is true indeed… but with good solid documentation and strict adherence to the rules, all problems can be kept to a bare minimum…
there's tons of places that can be repurposed by dms for events
These areas are unique obstacle courses…
Having so many random elements to the game makes it tougher for fairness for example.
Fairness is indeed the ultimate issue!!
And there is fleshing out to do in regards to the requirements of the contestants…
So far…
Each contestant is provided with an official “running suit” which is hasted; they may not wear or use anything else.
Magic is not allowed.
A good brainstorming session could iron the requirement issues out in a couple days or so…
Actually though, I wasn’t really asking for anything other than the NS building standards… a professional disc golfer, owner and operator of Chainbiters Disc Golf, I am in my busiest time of the year. Most of my building is during the winter months, as would be working on the “obstacle course” project.
I welcome your thoughts
At your service,
DZ
